Dowie Leaves Palace

Quote:
Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie has left his position as manager of the Eagles by mutual consent.

The 41-year-old had been in charge at Selhurst Park since December 2003.

Dowie was reported to have fallen out with Palace chairman Simon Jordan after the club missed out on immediate promotion back to the Premiership. Dowie has been linked with the jobs at Middlesbrough, Charlton and Ipswich and with Preston too, should boss Billy Davies leave Deepdale this summer.
Always had a lot of time for Dowie as he was a good up and coming manager who always wore his heart on his sleeve.

Just a shame his side didn't have the same determination as Dowie did in the semi finals otherwise he could've been back in the Premiership.

Boro and Charlton the obvious destinations it would seem. If he does go to Boro i wouldn't be surprised at all to see Andy Johnson follow him there too.

I think he still lives in Oldham or something doesn't he? Probably go to Preston if they get a vacancy.

The chairman was on five live this afternoon saying that he'd released Dowie because he'd said he wanted to go back up north.

So get your cash on him for the Charlton job

Not quite sure what Jordan is playing at, there's a real risk that his ego is putting the club in severe danger. Dowie is a superb manager, and I reckon a lot of the players will leave with him - not just Johnson. I would have thought Boro is a fair bet as long as they don't ruin all their good work by hiring Permatan Venables

Re: Dowie Leaves Palace

Might have somethhing to do with the previous thread and selling Johnson, once your best players are on their way out its best to move on especially now the parachute payment has gone.

Its obvious theres no money for new players and i doubt even being offered half the johnson payment would get Palace up next yr.
Best to get out while the goings good as has allready been mentioned theres two Prem vacancys going that would suit him down to the ground.

  • Was just thinking there, the best type of "fuck off " is the following; You`re playing astro, 5 a side, someone shouts "handball" and the "fuck off" response is fucking class.
