Gareth Brummy
Apparently £10m has been bid this afternoon by Liverpool for young Mr Barry.
27 years old, decent central midfielder and can also play left back or left mid when needed. Good all round player and a good personality to have in the team as well in my opinion - also he's mates with Princess Stevie too which helps. It will be a right bum fest next year, what with Stevie, Torres and now Brummy all copping a feel whenever we score. Gay porn I tell you, its gay porn. So... Barry in and presumably Xabi Alonso on his way back to Spain? Hasnt been too happy for a while and I am led to believe he wants to move back to Spain to bring up his young family there. |

Re: Gareth Brummy
I’m not too sure about David Bentley. I don’t know if he offers anything more than say Jermaine Pennant or Benayoun. We would be buying this guy at the peak of his value, for a fee up to £12m if the papers are to be believed and yet I don’t know if he’s really that good.
For me, he still falls into the category of “decent” Premiership player. Along with Damien Duff, Benayoun, Pennant, Morten Gamst Pederson etc. I don’t think we’re getting value for money basically. I would be very very surprised if we laid out all that money for him, its just not rafa’s style. |

Re: Gareth Brummy
It seems Real Madrid have offered £19m for Xabi Alonso, which is a decent price IMO. He cost us £12m and has had a couple of stinking seasons - I would sell at that price. He's a nice guy and overall I think he's had a positive effect on the team and the dressing room but think its probably time for him to move on.
Intelligent bloke, was one of the first Spanish players to learn the lingo and conduct his press conferences in English and his professional attitude has rubbed off on the rest of them. I think he helped to bond the British and the Spanish lads together actually - but sometimes you have to accept that its time to move on. |

Xabi puts paid to row rumours
by Joseph Caron Dawe, 15 May 2008 (Setanta) Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has again reiterated his desire to remain at the club, and has rubbished rumours of a spat between manager Rafa Benitez and himself. All manner of speculation has been fluttering around Anfield in recent weeks with The Reds having had an offer for Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry turned down. The link with the England international has led to supposition that Alonso could be on his way out of the club, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus all having been mentioned as possible destinations. However, Alonso says he is more than happy on Merseyside and would like to remain there for the foreseeable future, and would even welcome the challenge of competition for a place with Barry. “I think I will be here next season even if Barry comes,” said the Spaniard in The Guardian. “He would bring good competition and he would be more than welcome. He can play different positions and if he plays in midfield then I could play with him. I have no problem with that. “At the moment I feel I could stay here for many years. I have been here for four seasons already; why not seven or eight? “As long as I am performing well and the club wants me to stay then I will.” Alonso also gave rumours of a falling out with Benitez the short shrift. “There is no problem between me and the manager and I would like to clarify that,” he added. “I have read that we have had an argument but our relationship is the same as it has been since I joined Liverpool. I spoke to the manager only the other day. He has never said that he wants me to leave.” "Whoawhoawhoe we got the best midfield in the world....." |
