Re: Rangers -Anti Football ?
I watched the game because my 4 week old son had been crying for about two hours and he finally fell asleep in my arms downstairs. I wanted to be able to watch TV with the sound down while he slept in my arms and the only thing that you can really watch on TV with the sound down is sport. He slept from around the 25th minute through extra time. In retrospect I should have woken him up to end my suffering
. It was one of those things where you have watched 30 minutes and then end up throwing good time after bad.I support no team (other than Ireland and QPR who I have a sentimental attachment to from my time in London) so I suppose my priorities are elsewhere. I’ll know better the next time the youngster kicks up and I’ll turn on the QVC channel for the final. Incidentally Trappatoni at his first Irish press conference came up with the quote – “a beautiful game gets headlines for 24 hours, a result stands forever” which I’m sure Walter Smith would appreciate. For the last time Yen Sid I have no sour grapes about Rangers. I hope they don’t win but good luck to you and the Rangers fans. I notice the top scorer from Zenit (and the competition) is out. |

Re: Rangers -Anti Football ?
The Fiortentina manager was blaming Rangers for his team being shit too, ODM.
They weren't good enough and I do think it's as simple as that. The chances they did create (couple right in front of goal don't forget) they blew. Don't blame Rangers for that. And don't blame Rangers for your team's piss poor passing and lack of desire until the 2nd half of the 2nd leg. Teams playing as negatively as Rangers only really pisses me off when you know they're better than that and unfortunately I think Rangers' hands are tied. They know if they push up, leave space; they'll be murdered but I do think their midfield and attack is decent enough if, God forbid, they ever have to chase a goal. I've quite enjoyed their flinging themselves at everything and last ditch blocks. Reminds me of that Scotland v Sweden game from a few years back when the Swedes pulverised us for 90 minutes and lost 1-0 (neat John McGinlay finish on the break if I recall ). Craig Brown was apologising after the game for the performance and I was thinking, "Are you on drugs!?? That was the most stunning, awesome defensive display I've ever seen!" I really was blown away by that game.Anyhow. Zenit look to be the side that'll finally break through Rangers with their quick and clever play around the box. That's what everyone else has lacked so far. Fiorentina included. I do think though that when forced into it, Rangers aren't quite as shit going forward as we all think. We might get a classic yet! And I've just found the match report for Scotland v Sweden if anyone wants a trip down memory lane: Scottish Football Association: The Scottish FA: Scotland :

Re: Rangers -Anti Football ?
ODM - I was referring to their manager to be fair, though i didnt make it clear. Football is about achieving a result and winning trophies. I bet the Dutch fans would trade in some of their lovely football for 1 world cup wouldnt they. If their honest, Arsenal fans would also trade in some of the plaudits their team has received this year for a bit of silverware.
At the end of the day, football is about winning. Only losers say its about enjoyment. Who cares if you play pig ugly football if you have a winners medal around your neck. |

Re: Rangers -Anti Football ?
I've no problem with that AFU. It's the blatent hypocrisy of it that's annoying.
It would be like the cheating bastard cloggers of Leeds United in the 70's moaning that they'd lost because they'd been roughed up or someone had bribed the ref'. As I say, live by the sword, die by the sword. Fuck knows how Rangers have got this far to be honest but they have and that's all the matters. I'm all for the underdog and it's nice to see a cup final which represents the smaller footballing nations for a change. |

Re: Rangers -Anti Football ?
Terrible to look at for a neutral and especially when your waiting on fiorentina to progress for a bet but in the end they had to play to their strengths which is what they did no matter how drab and boring.
However in the end ,the game in florence looks to have had its toll and they are in danger of throwing the league title away. Cant see them winning against Zenith either. Up the celts ![]() |

Re: Rangers -Anti Football ?
I havent thought they;d get through any of the last 3 rounds cause the way they have had to play football. keep it tight at home and try to nick a goal away. not pretty to watch and not good for the nerves either but they are there and i'm a Rangers fan as well.
glad we dont have to go to russia as they would hammer us there - they are great at home (and not bad away).... it's now a cup final on neutral soil and although there will be loads more rangers fans there i think they will still have their work cut out. the russian fa have now announced that ZSP will not play anymore games till the UEFA cuo final to escape injuries etc... they are taking the piss out of the sfa and are hoping this will help ZSP. i think it will considering rangers position but the long short and tll of it is Rangers are in an European final and that is it. Fantastic achievement for them but also for Scottish Football. Celtic done it a few years ago and with the likes of Aberdeen given the mights of Bayern a game at home then thig are hopefully 'really' looking up for the nation as a whole. France hammered Scotland twice 0-1 remember. Its not good to watch but it fecking brilliant to celebrate ![]() |

Have to have some common sense here though. The Russian league is only 8 games old which makes postponing a couple of games far easier to do at that stage of the season. You can't do that right at the end of the season. Teams plan holidays etc thinking they know the final date of games. Some players have already lost out on holidays now due to the season being extended. I am pretty sure had the SPL only been a few games in they would have helped Rangers as best as they could. 0-0 today. I am more confident than ever 3 in a row is coming to Celtic Park ![]() |

Re: Rangers -Anti Football ?
i agree kiko but didnt the spl give celtic some allowance when they got to the final ?
only difference is that the spl then didn't have a backlog. i'm not moaning as such but it is a sad state of affairs the spl have got into. its run by monkeys and until they short out this stupid break etc etc it will always be ran by monkeys. simple arguement - how can someone in top 6 have less points than someone in bottom 6.....monkeys |

Re: Rangers -Anti Football ?
how the fcuk did cousin get a game today after his performance in italy, kris boyd must be scratching his head, if i was him i would be looking for a new club in the summer its must be heartbreaking for him knowing the fans love him but smith does not rate him.
