Michael Johnson

I know Chris raves about this lad (plays for Man City) and I read an article today saying he could be on his way to Anfield. Apparently we have tried 3 times so far and were on the verge of an exhange deal back in January (offering Crouch in return) but apparently he had to undergo surgery and it was put on hold.

I've always thought he was a tidy little player, but couldnt really see him fitting into our system of play. Plus, I would have thought a wide right player would have been more of an urgent matter at the moment.

Anyway - £12m is the figure being mentioned - for a 20 year old with promise that seems rather high.

Opinions?

Re: Michael Johnson

He was with us for a while when he was about 16, and Feyenoord. He chose City cos he liked the other players in his age group the most apparently.

Why would City need to sell anyone now theyve got lots of $$$? Maybe Richards if he wanted to play for the very best teams or something but Johnsons not in that category.

Re: Michael Johnson

I like Johnson, but think there's too much competition for a place in central midfield. Plus, for that sort of money, I think Rafa would be after a better player. I mean for about £5m we signed Lucas who is the Brazil under 20's capatain. Yet the equivalent English player is 2 and a bit times that - I dont think so. You'll probably find that Johnson's contract is up for renewal and his agent is releasing these sorts of stories to get a better deal out of the club.

I think he will be mate, although I wouldnt blame him if he walked out and went somewhere else given the shit that the club has put him through.
