Premiership footballer "fixes" game

Apparently a Premiership footballer has admitted to helping to fix a game last year by getting himself sent off and arranging for 3 of his team mates to get booked. In return, a debt of £50'000 was written off.

All morals and legal issues aside, with your average Premiership footballer earning £20k a week - is it really worth jeopardising your career over £50k?

Is being ashamed and full of remorse enough though? Surely this lad, whoever he is, should be prosecuted and banned from the game?

It wasn't a Premiership footballer, or at least this article certainly gives the impression it wasn't - it was a footballer with "a Premiership club on his CV". In other words it could just as easily be a lower league player who was once on the books of a Premier League club as a youngster.
