El Jefecito Signs For Liverpool

Brilliant news!

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavierrr Mascheraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanooooooooooooooooo signs for Liverpool for £18.6m

Bargain in my opinion - especially when look at what £18m gets you these days.

I think he's a better player than Carrick and he's younger and fitter than Hargreaves.

I'm chuffed to bits

the 18.6 is payed in 4 installments , so no 18m outlay

I like him. I've seen him play many times in the flesh as my lad is a Liverpool fan and he's a good player. £18m -

NEVER.

Gett1n - I think its mad that a holding midfielder costs £18m I really do. Especially when you consider that Torres only cost £20m.

But if thats what it takes to buy a world class holding midfielder (and bear in mind United layed out similar sums for Anderson, Carrick and Hargreaves) then so be it. Plus his purchase was partially financed by the sale of Sissoko to Juventus in January and also Xabi Alonso's impending move back to Spain.

Yeah ridiculous money but like you's say when you's compare him with the prices paid for far weaker players then its a bargain.

Why has this taken so long to complete AFU?

West Ham must be kicking themselves as they had Tevez and Mascherano playing nothing like they have gone on to show.

Re: El Jefecito Signs For Liverpool

Mascherano couldnt even get in the team at West Ham. Im sure they had Reo-Cock-End and Hayden Mullins playing instead.

As for why its taken so long to complete - I would say the ownership crisis is the reason. The transfer fee itself was agreed and set in stone in January 2007 so its not a case of haggling over the value or them trying to ramp the price up. Equally, Masche was keen to sign on the dotted line himself - but like anyone selling a business, there's a reluctance to invest any money.

I think Hicks and Gilette delayed with the deal because they didnt want to do anything to make the club a less sale-able asset.

Re: El Jefecito Signs For Liverpool

I suppose the matter of whether Masche is value or not is defined by the price of him and the price of other players that do the same job. Can anyone else recommend a better holding/tackling midfielder that would be available for less money? Apart from Alan Smith....

What? Tevez was fucking awesome for WHU. He pretty much kept them up single handedly. Agreed about Mascherano though.

Nah i do not agree with that.

For me Tevez scored some important goals but i never did think he played many good games for them to be honest.

Kiko, away to f.....!!

Away and look at West Ham's record from about Jan onwards last season, count the wins and draws and see how many times Tevez was the one scoring the goals. I am sure I read his goals added about 10-15 points to them last season. Have to agree with Dave, he pretty much kept WH up on his own last season.

Like AFU, I couldn't understand why WH never played Mascherano. Fair enough he would, like Tevez, take time to settle but I mean the boy had been playing at the WC, and well at that, in the close season before he joined WH. I remember laughing when they signed Nigel Quashie and he got a game in front of him.

High price and a bit over the top in comparison to elsewhere, but thats the money floating about in the EPL for you.
