The End ?

David Beckham looks unlikely to win his 100th cap after being left out of Fabio Capello's first England squad, the Press Association understands

Is it the end for Becks ?
Just one short of his 100th cap.
Beckham has not played a competitive game since England's Euro qualifying defeat by Croatia on 21 November.

Re: The End ?
It might not be the end, but at this point in time I think Capello would find it hard to justify to the player that misses out in favour of Beckham, why I had picked Becks over him.

Re: The End ?
Very difficult to pick a player who hasn't played competitive football in, what, 3+ months?

The same goes for the entire Rangers and Celtic squads but they still get international call ups

Re: The End ?
Beckham should be in the side, no doubt about it.
You would be hard pushed to find a player in the English national side with as much passion and impact as he does for that side.
Last World Cup he basically assisted in every goal that England scored. McLaren then dumped him from the side and England struggled badly but he comes back in and he was the one that was busting his balls and coming up with the big plays.
I do think he will be called up though to get his 100th cap llike he deserves!

Re: The End ?
It's a shame for Coppello that he's been left with this mess at all (not that it will bother him in the slightest as he may as well let the team, the press, and the nation know who's boss before we start).
If that useless ginger cunt hadn't dropped him in the first place then he could have wandered off into the sunset without all this fuss.
I have sympathy for both arguments. On the one hand he does deserve 100 caps for what he's done. On the other hand, he shouldn't deprive another player a shirt - and a chance to impress - on what is the start of a new era.
If he doesn't reach 100 caps then McLaren will be a cunt forever in the same way that Taylor was when he took off Lineker and deprived him of his historical moment.

I agree he deserves it and should be in the squad but wasnt this the perfect opportunity/game to play him in? A basically meaningless friendly. Given that, im not sure he will get reach 100, there was no better time really

Re: The End ?
I don't think Capello would lose too much by putting Beckham out for 30 minutes in what despite what significance some people in the meddia are trying to invest in it it is a fairly meaningless firendly. You can be sure there will be a few high profile dropouts in advance. Capello can give him his 100 caps and allow him to bow out on a high note and never pick him again. The issue will keep cropping up again and again otherwise as the media keep the pot boiling.
Like ODM says I suspect he doesn't give a fcuk about the English media and could well be putting down a marker.
Beckham has been a good servant to England down the years and he should get one final hurrah. I don't think he should play competitively again as he by going to the US I think that his priorities were laid bare fairly well. I'd be disappointed for him if it ended so anti-climactically.

If you knew what you were talking about you would be dangerous.
Show me one Celtic or Rangers player with an international call up who hasn't played for 3 months+......
Anyway, pointless side tracking aside, US season starts at the end of March, England will have friendly in March probably/possibly and something probably in May/June (tour of Far East or games in US possibly v US and S America opposition), he will be in those squads if he is fit and get his 100th cap.

Ahhh ha, got you Dave, my slowness obviously missed your implication in the original post. Got you now, thanks for spelling it out.
Are you here all week?
Maybe you should do a double act with ODM.....

Re: The End ?
maybe it was just a shit joke dave , let's face it , it's not your first.
I agree that Becks ommision merely confirms that he will figure in the team once he starts playing again so no big deal really
