Suppose you could say its been the worst kept secret in sport... The fans werent happy with him, the owner didnt pick him, the players didnt exactly bust their balls to save his job either.

So, if Newcastle only give their managers 6 months - you better hope as a potential manager that you get off to a flying start otherwise you're for the chop. I dont see who could do a better job than him, with limited resources.

Lets have it right - his net spend this summer was £4m. Newcastle fans have the impression that they're a "massive club" - but if you're spending fuck all, what can you expect?

Thing that pisses me off is i hear Geordies moaning how they haven't had a good manager since Robson yet they are all saying how they would love Shearer in the job...WTF?

That would be an absolute travesty and just create more problems for them if he was to come along. They need a top manager. Mourinho would be fantastic but i cannot see it happening.

A Hiddink type manager is what they need. Bring back the Keegan days with the attacking style of football etc.

Do they have the money to play sexy football?

The problem, in my humble opinion, is that most of the fans dont know what they're talking about. Most of my mates and people I speak to at work etc say they would sooner lose 5-4, rather than scrape out 1-0 wins here and there.

For me, football is about winning. It is about amassing points and trophies and bollocks to the style of football you play. They dont have the same idea up here.

Its interesting to see who people think is lined up to be the next Newcastle manager.

Shearer was as short as 1/2 this afternoon and is now around 9/4 with Harry Redknapp the 6/5 favourite with Paddy Power.
