Liverpool chase Burnley youngster

Apparently we're after some 14 year old Burnley striker called John Cofie, like the drink, just spelled different.....

I pissed myself when I heard the fella's name. I wonder what Mr Jingles has got to say about it all.

Anyway, the upshot is, Burnley dont want to sell and say it would take more than the £250'000 currently on the table to release him.

Fuck me, thats a lot of money for a kid that probably hasnt even had a shave yet.

Burnley warn Liverpool over Cofie

Burnley boss Steve Cotterill has told Liverpool they have no chance of signing 14-year-old striker John Cofie for £250,000.
The youngster was snapped up by the Clarets after he was spotted at a youth tournament in Germany last summer.
Cotterill has dismissed speculation of Cofie making a move to Anfield.
"Nothing has been agreed between us and Liverpool and if they think they can nick him for £250,000 - there's no chance," said Cotterill.

Does anyone feel that the price tag is justified?

"There are a lot of clubs looking at John Cofie but, unfortunately for them, he's ours. He's registered and on forms with us, so nobody can nick him, and that's really where it stands. "I've had a few conversations but, other than that, he's our player. He's signed for us, irrespective of what anyone else says and does."

Re: Liverpool chase Burnley youngster

I know, its madness not selling him for that. Realistically, to get a decent fee of £2m plus, you'd have to wait around 3 years (until they were old enough to sign professional terms) and you're also taking the chance that the lad will end up being a class act.

In the next 3 years, he might get an injury or just not develop as expected. How many players touted for greatness are playing for Marine, Vauxhall Motors or Eastbourne Borough FFS. The league's littered with them.

Take the money and run IMO
