Re: Sammy Lee sacked at Bolton
Can't see it making much real difference in the short term Keema.
What a disasterous reign for Sammy. Clear case of "the Brian Kidds" - good second in command but poor leader.

Re: Sammy Lee sacked at Bolton
I thought he would be off soon. He has fallen out with Anelka, Diouf, Nolan and Speed recently. I read at the weekend too that his goalkeeping coach left as well.
Pretty major that, your 4 best players and the club captain turning against you isnt a good sign.

Re: Sammy Lee sacked at Bolton
He was never going to succeed after big Sam, only a very big name could of done that, the Bolton bubble burst when he went and certain players had made it clear they wanted out, he was up against it from the off.
I thought he spoke well of his players in defeat, always came out talking positive and blaming nobody.
I think he'll make a good manager but he needs to start at a smaller club or at least one that's in the shit.
Unless a very big name comes in Bolton will get even worse now imo.

Who's in the frame for the job? Paul Jewell? Gary Speed?
On another note - wouldnt be suprised to see Sammy back at Anfield. He never fell out with Rafa in the first place, his ambition took him to Bolton. Now that Pako has left, he would be walking into an Assistant's post at Anfield if he did re-join.

Re: Sammy Lee sacked at Bolton
Interesting point AFU, though i think Rafa has shared Paco's work around to others now hasnt he? I wouldn't mind little Sammy back there at all tbh.

Re: Sammy Lee sacked at Bolton
I dont think you can share his work around mate. Pako ran training sessions, he did the drills before the match, he ran the shop floor while rafa was busy upstairs playing football manager, trying to find out who to buy.
There can be only one head coach mate. When you are in Pako's shoes or Queeraz at Man U - that job is well respected and can be done by one person only. You cant really have one person doing one thing and another person doing another. There has to be a consistant approach and consistant message from the management team.

I dont think you can either but that is what Rafa said in an interview when questioned about Liverpool's dip in form after Paco left.

Looks like Sammy may well be joining Liverpool in some capacity, along with Frank McPartland.
He was at yesterday's reserve match in Warrington along with Rafa apparently.
Quote:
THE appearance of Sammy Lee and Rafa Benitez at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Tuesday night did nothing to dispel rumours that former Bolton boss Lee could rejoin Liverpool as the club's assistant manager.
Lee has been out of work since leaving his first managerial post by mutual consent a month ago but was in Warrington to watch Liverpool Reserves draw 0-0 with Blackburn in the Barclays Premier Reserve League (North).
Media speculation has linked Lee, who was on the Liverpool coaching staff for several years before Benitez's arrival at the club and has also worked with England in the past, with a return to Anfield after the recent departure of assistant Pako Ayesteran.
Lee shared an executive box with Benitez, who was making his first appearance at The Halliwell Jones for a reserve game, before kick-off at Tuesday's drab reserve clash, which attracted a crowd of 2,097.
The former Kop legend then watched the game alongside Frank McParland, who quit as Liverpool's chief scout in the summer to become general manager at Bolton only to leave the Reebok Stadium when Lee departed.
More match details and reaction will be in Thursday's Warrington Guardian.
