Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08
That Elano has meant to be a pretty decent player for Shaktar and was he no in the Brazil squad at the Copa America?
I was sure Arsenal were rumoured to be looking at the Croatian lad. Some VERY nice signings for City. Is Isaakson still there as well. No idea how Weaver was picked in front of him last season when both were fit. |

Aye, Bojinov would surely do a good job as well. Think did well at Fiorentina alongside Toni. Still pretty young but I am sure he was in Italy at Lecce at about 18 and doign well.
Feck me City are gonna be good too watch if this lot play to their potential. Must be like all your Xmases at once with all these new players appearing every day! |

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08
Its beautiful mate, last year we were signing Dickov, Corradi and Dabo.
I love sven He's such a nice guy as well, it looks like he is actually taking this club places. He has always been good in the transer market from what I've read.Building a very very good and very young squad here. It looks like Onouha, Richards, Ireland and Johnson are all part of the team for next year as well which is good news. I think Steven Ireland will excel surrounding by players of this quality, his talents were wasted on the team last year. Michael Johnson will probably be first choice CM with Elano as well. All this young talent we have brought through and foreign talent sven has brough in, looks like we have a very good team for next year. Geovanni, Petrov, Elano and Bojinov. 4 players with lots of flair and im guessing we are going to be a very exciting team to watch! |

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08
Crowie you can probably remember and have a better memory than me but Elano was one of the guys who single handedly destroyed Celtic in the CL game in Ukraine was it?
Im certain it was him. If it was City have got a top top player and im surprised it took him so long to find a big club as you could see the talent back then. I could be wrong and mistaken for another player but im certain im not. |

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08
Ok ignore what i said. Did a search. The player im thinking of was Matuzalem. Got 2 goals and ran the show in an emphatic performance.
BTW Chris - i sacked and removed you as manager of Boro. NOOOOOOOB ![]() |

Lol i told you mate, i dont have enough spare time, if im at home i have to play poker, i dont even play enough, let alone find time to play a footy manager game!
Matuzalem is very good, saw him 2 years ago playing for Shakhtar and I was always disappointed at how they didnt do so well in the CL because they have some quality players. I think he plays for Zaragoza now. |

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08
Apparently he's gonna be the new kinkladze so the rumour goes AFU.
I'll take my hat off to Sven allthough he's doing what i expected him to do in trying to create an Italianesque type team in the Prem as thats what he knows best. Italians, Eastern Europeans and South Americans all smack of Serie A, and allthough most of us have never heard of some of these players ,when u do ure homework on them they all look pretty classy and look the part, all seem to be quite young too so he also seems to be building for the future rather than looking for a quick fix which would be the easy option. Sven is showing he has a good knowledge of world players and no doubt good contacts to boot, Unlike England where the press picked his team for him, now he can work on his own squad and do his own thing without interference. This time next yr we could be crying into our beer but I like the way he is doing things his own way and bringing in players HE wants and not pushed in anyway. He's also shown by letting Castillo go he won't pay more for a player than he thinks he's worth and i think we'll see a new Sven this season now he's let his hair down. Its going to be an interesting season to say the least and i can't wait to see his new line up once the season starts, Obviously this team will need time to gel but I have high hopes in Sven and am pretty certain he'll be the first manager in a long time to bring in some silverware, maybe not this season but i'd say within the next 3 yrs, which is nothing going off our current History. I'd also like to thank Mr Shinatra as without him none of this would have been possible, and all this talk about him not being fit and proper to run the club as he's preported to have given the go ahead to shoot some drug dealers on his orders etc when he was Premier for Thailand then fcuk em, I'd vote for him tomorrow if he stood for PM on those sort of policies.
