Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

The Crouch one is interesting. I saw from SS News that He is rated around £20m-£25m, that's going off yesterday's newspaper stories.

Would be very very sad to see him go, but every player has a price when all's said and done.

I still have feeling that Heinze will be great signing for that money, but I think Man Utd wouldnt let him go.....Sevilla today anounce that price for Dani Alves is 30 milion euros so why the hell Rafa didnt jump on that signing,we badly need right full back or right winger and he is resolving every problem on that side....

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Prsljen - Dani Alves looks a great player. What a finish yesterday by the way in the Copa America - such composure from a right sided defender.

However we need a left back and a left winger and he is neither. A great player to have in the team, but If we had that much money to spend (and I dont think we do) then I would rather invest in our danger areas out left.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

I think that Babel is going to play on left wing,he got lot of speed, great pace,a lot of quality moves to bring defenders on their knees, but his defensive isnt great.....Benites will use Arbeloa evrytime we might have problems with full backs and Riise wil be more left winger than years before...we have great midfield with adding Tores upfront we have constant threat,Voronin is great guy and have Magci Johnson touch, something like Lusi Garcia but on regular basis and is great on counters...I think that Babel will try his lif with the red shirt on left side and this could be great move for us,we could play some atractive ofensive football for a change....

Seize him!

Keep him here a while, use him as somebody to slap if we get robbed with another injury time O'shea goal!

From the BBC

Heinze keen to make Man Utd exit

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says defender Gabriel Heinze wants to leave Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old has been playing in the Copa America for Argentina and he has been linked with moves to Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle and Juventus.

Ferguson said: "Gaby's agent has advised us that he wants to move on.

"I am not too sure about that and we do not have a concrete offer but there is momentum regarding his next move, even if nothing is close right now."

Liverpool have been linked with Heinze for some time and Reds boss Rafael Benitez is believed to have met the £6.8m asking price.

However, Ferguson is not thought to be keen on the former Paris St Germain star joining one of their Premier League rivals.

Heinze will take an extended holiday after Argentina's 3-0 defeat by Brazil in Sunday's Copa America final in Venezuela.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

prsljen - I think this season will see us play better football.

I think we will stick to Bentiez's cautious style but when we get the breaks, we will make them count. There hasnt been a lot wrong with us in previous seasons, its just that we havent had those world class attacking players that can create something out of nothing and turn a game.

Think back to Chelsea away last year, we absolutely mullered them and they didnt get a sniff. Ball into Drogba on the edge of the box, rolls the defender and unleashes a brilliant strike to win the game. We simply didnt have players of a similar cailbre that could do that. I think it will be more of the same from us, but with more creative options and we will make better use of the ball when we have it.

I dont think we will suddenly start to play very attacking, it just isnt Rafa's style. Cautious, hit teams on the break - 1 shot 1 goal.

Clinical is the word for this year.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Well I watched the game last night and was impressed with a few players. Pennant for one looked good again. Shows a real willingness to stay tight to the touchline and that helps stretch the game. But he got stuck in and tracked back when he needed to. JP and Finnan looks a strong partnership down the right.

Voronin as you mentioned has impressed so far. He might look like Emmanuel Petit but he is a good all round player. Given that he cost us nothing and is our 4th choice up front, he's a cracker. Good touch, again willing to come short and help out when we lose posession. Good in the air and a cool finish for his second too. Definitely made the right impression.

Big shout out to me main man, El Zhar who looked decent on the left as well. Both he and Jack Hobbs settled into the first team no bother at all.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Today's mirror suggests Heinze will take Man United to court to achieve his move to the mighty reds

HEINZE COURT THREAT - Football - Sport - Mirror.co.uk

Apparently Heinze's agent was told his player was free to leave as long as the new club met their valuation. They apparently have this in writing and are prepared to sue Man United if they dont let him go to Liverpool.

Interesting - and we continue...
