Arsenal bottled it, that's why.

Yes we played well but they had a few chances at 0-1 and 1-1 to wrap things up. As the match wore on, their performance dipped and some of our big players earned their corn tonight.

Gerrard though - how shit was he! The sooner we off load him the better.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Here's a quote from last night's referee, on the penalty decision and the atmosphere

Translated from the story in the leading swedish rag, Aftonbladet:

******************

When Aftonbladet reached referee Peter Fröjdfelt late last night, he had no hesitations. "-He's (Toure) pulling his shirt inside the box and it's a penalty."

Were the Arsenal players complaining?

"-None bar Kolo Touré. The other players were merely disappointed in him, I think." said the swedish referee. "-He starts pulling his shirt outside the box, but the player falls inside it, a clear penalty to me." Fröjdfelt continues: "-The atmosphere was incredible. We (the referees) could barely communicate with each other through our headsets."

Ha ha ha

Apparently Ryan Babel's similarity to MC Hammer has inspired a new song in his honour

OHHHHHHHH A WHOAAAAAAAAAA, OHHHHHHHHHH A WHOAAAAAAAAAA,

OHHHHHHHH A WHOAAAAAAAAAA..

STOP

Babel time

YouTube - Mc Hammer can't touch this

Roughly 1.43 into the video is the new chant......

Oh dear

DIC ends bid to buy Liverpool FC

Apr 10 2008 By Tony Barrett Liverpool Echo

DUBAI International Capital today abandoned its bid to buy Liverpool Football Club - for the time being at least.

DIC chief execuitve Sameer Al Ansari admitted that while the Dubai based consortium would "still love to own" Liverpool and will "continue to be interested" in the club, no deal will possible until current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett sort out their own differences.

"You have two partners who do not see eye to eye. And we decided that we pull out completely. Let them sort out their problems," he said.

DIC was prepared to pay in the region of £510m for the club, thereby allowing Hicks and Gillett to walk away with a profit of around £40m each.

Hicks, though, refused to sell his stake and is currently trying to raise the necessary capital to buy out his co-owner.

But with Gillett privately insistent he will not sell to Hicks at any price there is an impasse which shows no immediate sign of being sorted out.

With this being the case DIC have now decided to walk away, although Al Ansari has not ruled out coming back in with another offer should Hicks and Gillett sort out their differnces.

He added: "We will continue to be interested and would love to own the club but we are not going to put ourselves in a difficult situation where we make the investment but we have no control over the destiny of the club and we cannot influence the success of the club.

"Unfortunately, the terms that have been put on the table do not allow us to do that."

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

So, DIC withdraw from bidding today & also Tom Hicks has asked for our Chief Exec (Rick Parry) to step down from his position.

Hicks cant sack him outright, it needs Hicks and Gillette to both agree on this - which given the relationship between the two I would say is unlikely.

Please, please, please stop fucking about with my club.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

You have got to love today's events.

George Gillette invites Amanda Stavely (chief negotiator for DIC) to the match tonight and as his guest she will be in the Director's Box. Alongside none other than Tom Hicks!

Unbelievable... I wish these kids would just sort out their differences in private.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Aaahhh here it is, my beautiful little Liverpool thread

I used to like them believe it or not. AFU single handedly turned me to despising them

Sickener that for you boys. What i found absolutely bizarre was why the hell Liverpool weren't trying to time waste like they normally do. Swinging in corners and free kicks around the 93rd minute etc is suicidal. Fair play trying to nick a goal but they always took that risk of an equaliser coming.

Stevie Gerrard putting in another poor show. Against the top teams he must really play 1 good game every 10 or something. If i was Liverpool i would sell him at the end of season and get in a top top player who isn't overhyped and can control these big games rather than losing possession time after time and slowing down the play.

I fancy Chelsea strongly from here now. Unbeaten in almost 100 games at home, Liverpool struggle to score there. Going to be difficult.

Fancy your chances still boys?

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

I feel sorry for Riise. He's been a diamond for them over his time at Liverpool and the ball in today was just horrible for a defender to have to deal with. He knows he's got to try to get something on it as there's a man up his arse but the bounce just made it hidious.

They aren't out of it yet but they went from needing to not concede in the second leg.....straight to having to score a goal in one horrible moment.

Poor geyser.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Just wrote a long post and lost the fucker. God it must be the most irritating thing in the fucking world when that happens

I was saying that although I thought Livepool were by far the best team on the night it would be wrong to suggest that there wasn't more than an element of luck in their goal too.

A spooned miss kick to set it up. The fact that Babel appeared to make a move for the ball from an offside position which could easily have been interpreted as putting the defender off by an over-zealous linesman (AR). Finally, ending up with Kuyt's shot bouncing downwards through the keepers legs. Brillliant bit of skill to hold of the defender to get the shot away mind.
