Re: BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2007

I don't know what it is but I have a feeling the support for Hamilton is beginning to wain a bit and i've started to have doubts, even more so if he fails to win the F1 crown.

I have a sneaky feeling Joe Calzaghe will do ok if he puts up a good show against Kessler and beats him comprehensively.

But Hatton could do even better if he manages to somehow beat Mayweather as that fight is month later so less likely to be forgotten and the hype for that fight will be unbelievable, with it spread all over the papers and telly.

Hatton is Currently 10/1 but its a waiting game as imo he needs to win that fight.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2007

Today's Bettingzone Market Moves:

1200: Jonny Wilkinson has been slashed to 3/1 from 20/1 with Ladbrokes to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year after a major patriotic punt.

The England fly-half kicked England into the Rugby World Cup Final with one of his trademark drop goals against France last night.

And his army of fans were quick to pounce on the 20/1 on offer at Ladbrokes after the team's semi-final win over France in Paris.

Ladbrokes spokesman Robin Hutchison: "We were too busy emptying our piggy banks to pay out punters on England's win to realise they were already recycling their winnings on Jonny.

"Having had him as a winner in the fieldbook we laid him to lose over £10,000 in the space of half an hour to dozens of internet customers."

Lewis Hamilton, who is on the verge of winning the Formula One Drivers Championship in his first season, remains the odds on favourite to win the award.

But the Hertfordshire hero's odds have drifted from 1/12 to 1/4, with Manchester boxer Ricky Hatton now 12/1 from 8/1.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2007

If that fuckin sicknote part-timer wins it will be the biggest travesty in sporting history.

He's injured most of the time. He's missed a shit load of kicks and blamed it on "The wrong ball". Most of the country didn't give a flying fuck about the rugby world cup until we beat the Aussies and for him to get the award in front of Hamilton's fantastic achievement on the wave of nationalistic fever would be an embarassment.

The England rugby team have been wank and I hope South Africa trounce the useless bastards or the flaw's in the team will be papered over.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2007

I still think its Hamiltons crown so long as he wins the world championship, I'd be very surprised to see Wilkinson grab it again as his kickings not been so great this time around and its the whole team effort that has got England into the final.

But if England win the world cup and Hamilton fails then it could well open the door to Wilkinson.

I somehow doubt it.. You need to remember that the Rugby World Cup is ITV's lovechild (as is Formula 1) and the fact that Jonny has won it before will also count against him. Unless he kicks the winning drop goal in the FInal in the 80th minute after Hamilton limps in around 20th place, then it should still be Lewis's... The lad has transended sport in terms of being a rookie, of mixed race and having a turbulent season. He's sorted as the winner..

Might have

I just don't like the way every man (and woman) and their dogs have jumped on the England rugby bandwaggon. I wanted to walk around the pub slapping people last night as they cheered on the heroes who they would have been slagging off a couple of weeks ago. Especially that useless dyed blonde tosser.

No, scrap that. They wouldn't have been slagging them off because no fucker was talking about the fuckin competition. Suddenly, last night, it was the most important thing in the world.

Makes me embarassed to be English and I actually wanted the Frogs to give them the good hiding that the Springboks will give them next week.

Fuck England. Come on you Boks

(and fuck Keema and Slick too. That's before they come in to lecture me for not being patriotic)

Well Hamilton has decided to fcuk off and leave Britain (lucky bastard), I wonder if this will have any negative effect on the voting?

I wouldn't have thought so, given the rest of the lame names in the hat. He'd have to admit to letting Princess Diana's tyres down to lose this one Slick.

Re: BBC Sports Personality of The Year 2007

In fact I've just had another look at the list and it's fucking depressing.

Are these people the best that Britain has to offer? A mixture of drugs cheats, has-beens and people who've spent more time injured than actually performing. Oh and a few boxers.

Oh and I missed out "never have beens".

Justin Rose for fuck's sake

Journeyman golfer.

We may as well chuck Neil Warnock in there.

Nailed on Kegman. Which of the other sad-sacks are going to give him any trouble?

Yeah I think Hamilton is a shoo in here as well. Fantastic achievement so young in his first season and will be well deserved if he gets it.
