Wtf is Avatar doing there? Oh well. Not something I'd normally take an interest in but I'd seen a lot of reviewers raving about the performances of Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer in The Last Station so I think I'll chance thruppence on both and hope one of them can cause a wee upset.

This is normally Stereoman's forte (who is strangely quiet on the awards front..)

For no great reasoning I am drawn to Coraline taking out the hot favourite 'Up' in Best Animated Film @ 19's (Pinnacle). Probably not gonna happen but I might have a cheeky punt on it for interest's sake..

Not really feeling 'it' and there wasn't much value left.

However I've gone for George Clooney, Carey Mulligan, Matt Damon, Kathryn Bigelow, Christophe Waltz and (500) Days of Summer but feel very wary of Jeff Bridges, Sandra Bullock, Robert Downey Jr, James Cameron and Nine (the Inglourious Basterds guy is almost nailed on to win).

Cheers, stereo. Nice to see Helen Mirren get at least one nod there. From the clips I've seen, Christopher Plummer is brilliant. High time one of the world's greatest and most respected actors had some recognition. Doubt it though.

Ugh. General disaster at my end. You see why I was so apprehensive!? I think the HFPA got their bets on.

Apart from The White Ribbon, Up, Mo'Nique, Meryl Streep and Christophe Waltz every other winner in the showcase categories was at a fairly generous odds-against.

Arguments can be made that they really love Avatar and Sandra Bullock but it absolutely reeks. Mind you, the ones I should have been weary about I should have taken advantage and bet on accordingly!
