Re: Christmas No1?
Winner of the Xfactor is a shoe in for xmas number 1 komp , probably be about 1/6 though , if your lucky !!
Im hoping its not Joe Mcelderry though - reason being at the start of the xfactor I had a free £50 bet with Ladbrokes and being in a bit if a rut I decided to watch all the 12 finalists auditions on youtube (hadnt watched any of it b4) and pick 1 and stick the £50.00 on. Without seeing the odds I settled on young Joe , checked odds, 11/1 ! Had it on the screen with the stake in place etc just had to click submit and fecking laptop battery went!! So just went to bed , got up and he was 9/1 ! So fucked it off and backed a footy team, think they won about evens so I had my £50 . By that time he was 6/1 ! So I couldnt take that and just left it ! Just hope he doesnt win it now though I think he will ! Would have been a nice little xmas bonus of £550 !! Dickhead me sometimes ![]() PS Check your PMs Komp, just mailed you ![]() |

Re: Christmas No1?
Hey Gill , many years in my pomp
I heard a track on radio 1 , gary jules Mad World and it got to me a bit, october time I think, and I thought thats a belter ! Saw xmas number 1 odds and it was 50.00 !! So had a few bets , only small , as you do. As the weeks drew on it got shorter and got a bit carried away and kept backing it, only bits n bobs like. Posted it all over the betfair forum when it was about 30.00 ! Anyways , long story short, it developed into a 3 way battle, The Darkness bells end or summat , Ozzie and his daughter , and Mad world. Odds xmas week were darkness 1/6 mad world 6/1 ozzie 8/1 rest 100/1 ...... I just kept posting it was a cert as radio 1 were backing it hugely ! The book closed on the sunday of xmas week with the darkness 1.25 mad world 4.50 and ozzie 30, rest 1000 . Thought I was cooked but kept hoping and im sure you know the rest !! Best night of my life as I was sure that people who knew the figures would have had a few sheckles on whatever the winner was and that the darkness xmas song was gona get it ! 1st ![]() 2nd ![]() 3rd ![]() |

Maybe not! Tens of thousands of people have signed-up to a campaign organised online by Jon Morter, which calls on people to buy Rage Against The Machine's infamous, insurrectionary 1992 track "Killing In The Name" and send that to the top of the singles chart on December 25 instead of whichever contestant wins the 2009 competition. "Fed up of Simon Cowell's latest karaoke act being Christmas Number One? Me too... So who's up for a mass-purchase of the track ‘Killing In The Name'...as a protest to the ‘X-Factor' b******s?", explain the Facebook and Twitter groups. The most memorable line in arguably Rage's greatest moment is probably "F*** you, I won't do what you tell me", which Morter describes as being "very apt". He says the Christmas Number One is a "great tradition", which the "X-Factor" has "taken all the fun out of". Last year, he unsuccessfully pitched Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" against Alexandra Burke's cover of "Hallelujah". But this fight is not over and the battle lines have clearly been drawn once again. To succeed this year music fans would need to buy the single in the week of 13th - 19th of December from either Rage Against The ?X-Factor? - Touching The Void |

Re: Christmas No1?
Today's Bettingzone Market News:
1145: Sky Bet have slashed the odds of Rage Against The Machine derailing Simon Cowell's X Factor juggernaut by claiming the Christmas number one single slot. A group formed on facebook urging fans to download "Killing In The Name" now has over 275,000 members and the Harrogate-based bookie has cut the odds of the song topping the chart to 7/2 from 7/1 following substantial support. Sky Bet's Helen Jacob said: "The X Factor has ruined Christmas number one betting having turned it into a one-horse race for the last four years and it would be great to see the show's monopoly over the yuletide charts end this year. "The Christmas number one betting had been very quiet so far but over the weekend we have seen a huge surge of bets on Rage Against The Machine to spoil Cowell's Christmas." ============= Hmmm. Not going to happen but good luck to them. |

Re: Christmas No1?
How many copies do you have to shift to get to Christmas no.1 usually? Would be great if they could stop X Factor from getting the top spot watched my first ever episode the other week when i went round my mates and him and his missus were watching it..got to say thought it was a pile of shite..think i would do myself in if i found myself watching that every sat..glorified karaoke basically..bah humbug!

Re: Christmas No1?
Happens every year dunnit...last years was the most serious ever with the Leonard Cohen charge and that still came up miles short.
The facebook and twitter groups have been gather huge momentum but clicking a link to join a group isnt buying an online single. Sure they'll say 'If only 50% of those signed up buy the download blah blah blah...' but the stats show that nowhere near 50% ever do. Could happen, I just find it all a bit strange really. A protest vote against the hype behemoth that is the X Factor takes the form of hype about something else. Wierd, and all the while Simon Cowell really doesnt care. |
