Did Koba not say he was retiring after this one?
I'm pretty sure he did, so if the terms dont dictate any nasty reduction/void terms in the case of one of them pulling out then you'd be aswell taking Chestnutt and more importantly the winning margin being over 3.5 just now as they'd both be about 1.02 if Koba isnt there.

If anyone does fancy a dabble on the 2010 tournament, a punt on Patrick 'DeepDish' Bertolli at 16/1 wouldnt be too bad a bet. He is the future of competitive eating and in his early 20's is the man to take Kobi's place as the number 1 contender to Chestnut.. 13 hotdogs isn't a massive gap and he could be one to watch..
On a seperate note, yesterday my 7 year old daughter had to talk about a famous person in class at school, and being an havid watcher with me last Saturday she chose 'Joey Chestnut'... Erm..That's my..er..girl...

Erm..Well..Hopefully not..
I can picture it now.. "Mine is Barack Obama - first black president of the USA!" "I say it's Madonna - shes a great singer that sells millions" "Mine is Joey Chestnut - he ate 68 hotdogs in 10 minutes and my daddy won lots of money betting on it.."

Hot dog-devouring legend Kobayashi to miss Independence Day dog fest - CNN.com They'll take their lumps like a good 'un, make the market void or the bookies will be hoping that Joey Chestnut chokes. EDIT: Nope. Bet365 states that 'Both Chestnut and Kobayashi must take part in the competition or else no action. Win only.'
