Your Country Needs You

BBC1 Eurovision selection programme.

It's not a show I'm going to go mad on as we've only seen about 2 minutes of each contestant, but I had big -ves against Emperors of Soul, Charlotte, Damien and the Twins, and that was even before I knew they had made it through to the final 6.

Jade might prove to be the chosen one but I can't really agree with favouritism for her - possibly looked a bit full on, and i'm not sure the Brit public will go down the pop road for Eurovision which she lends herself to.

Mark looks the selection to me. Hopefully he isn't arrogant which looked a slight risk, but he can sing, and is the sole young male in a fairly oddball bunch. Hoping for a Lee Mead type fella(or even something remotely close which should be good enough here.)

2pts Mark @ 4.33 with Stan James

(4.50 available with Hills but got account probs there at the mo.)

Re: Your Country Needs You

There are shows every week on a Saturday - with one voted out each week. I think the final show is around the end of January.

Re: Your Country Needs You

Ive just seen the odds for Mark @ betfair ...its 3.05 a lot less than willim hill still @ 3.75 and stan james....Betfair gives equal chances for Jade and Mark while other bookies dont ...Very interesting...

Re: Your Country Needs You

Jade does indeed look to be the chosen one and it looks like ALW will do everything he can to get her chose. She is into odds on already.

Mark sang well I thought, and while the bias seems to be towards the female contestants(Damien was A LOT better than Charlotte) I still think he has a very good chance here.

Re: Your Country Needs You

He sang really well tonight - and so his odds dropped a bit.

Jade is still the big favourite as she is ALW's favourite, but this will ultimately be decided by a public vote and if he can make it that far then Mark has a great chance - Jade might be ALW's chosen one, but I'm not sure the public will take to her at all...and Mark has a good voice(and should pick up a lot of teenage girl votes too.)

Re: Your Country Needs You

No Rado, definately not. If he can get to the final then we have a decent chance, but until then there is a chance Andrew Lloyd Webber could send him home if he is in the bottom two, as Andrew seems to want Jade to win, so given that there could be some interference here it's probably not one to put more on.

Re: Your Country Needs You

Yep, good night for us Rado.

Jade(the girl who was the big favourite - god knows why) was in the bottom two of the votes.

She was saved by Andrew LLoyd Webber but atleast it shows that Mark is beating her in the voting - and I'm 99% certain he is beating the twins too.

The fact that Jade isnt even getting as many votes as the twins is amazing but great news - it suggests Mark is way out in front.

Could lay off some now, but at current odds I dont think its worth it at all, as Mark should be odds on.

Re: Your Country Needs You

I'm having a small cover with a lay of Mark @ 2.46 - only because I'm slightly afraid of the casual voters who might have been waiting for the final for their one vote of the series, and who are more likely to go for Jade. Nevertheless, she's got quite a bit of ground to make up.

So around half stakes covered.

Re: Your Country Needs You

Mark pretty much stitched up tonight - on first again(was in the semi too) and lines opened just before Jade sang, and they got the winner they wanted. She was the better performer but in a fair run race he'd have probably beaten her on the public vote. Still, thats the risk you take with these markets, and why we love em.
