1530: Ken Livingstone's Mayoral odds, which drifted out as far as 7/4, have now come in to 11/10 with William Hill, which puts him on almost level terms with current favourite Boris Johnson.

"When Boris took over as favourite it looked likely that his odds would continue to shorten, but the current round of hustings and meetings have inspired a Livingstone comeback and his odds have shortened significanly over the last fortnight as punters begin to believe he might be able to win for a third time," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills currently make Johnson 4/6 favourite to win the Mayoral Election, with Livingstone offered at 11/10, Brian Paddick at 25/1 and Sian Berry at 100/1.

I fancy Ken to nick it on the second choice , Boris is low on actual policy and is terrible at presenting hi,self, he was a novelty for a while but I think on the day Kens is seen as a safe pair.He's got the Olympics in his favour but he's got the Evening Standard against him.

The pendulum's been swinging towards Ken and back to Boris again. Today's Bettingzone Market News:

1505: A rush of bets for Boris Johnson to win the race to become London Mayor has seen William Hill slash his odds from 4/6 to 4/7 favourite, while Ken Livingstone's odds have been lengthened from 11/10 to 5/4.

"After Livingstone proved the punters' pal last week it seems that Boris' supporters have been keeping their powder dry waiting for his odds to lengthen and have now pounced as the race reaches the run-in. We've seen tens of thousands of pounds worth of bets for him," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills make Brian Paddick 25/1 third favourite with Sian Berry at 100/1.

Quite surprised , most folk ( me included ) see Boris as buffoon , with no substance at all.
As Keem said , Kens the safe pair of hands.

On the normal voting public, youd expect Ken Livingstone to win for sure. I guess it depends on how many people turn out to just 'vote for Boris' for fun really. You can imagine all the quirky types and stupid people in London just having a vote for him for a laugh etc.

I dont know the figures but id guess only half of people eligible for voting actually do vote. Thats an awful big % of people who might not normally vote that might just cos theyve seen the blonde twat get a few laughs on Have I Got News For You.

Still if I was betting id go for the 7/4 on Ken Livingstone at bet365.

1015: Punters are piling on to Boris Johnson as betting for the London Mayor Election enters the home straight.

Bookie Paddy Power now has the Conservative candidate at 2/7 for an election win, his shortest odds of the campaign. The late betting has been fast and furious on the blond-mopped frontrunner with the bookie cutting him consistently from his 1/2 odds 24 hours ago.

Ken Livingstone is now out to 9/4, his longest odds of the campaign, having been 6/4 on Tuesday. The bookie estimates that £1million will be riding on the election result by tomorrow.

Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: "Boris' betting bandwagon is beginning to look unstoppable. No matter what price we cut him to, punters still want to back him."

Hmmm. The latest YouGov/Evening Standard poll would suggest this is a cakewalk for Boris Johnson.

1405: Boris Johnson was the subject of a big overnight gamble on Betfair, being backed into his shortest-ever price at 1/3 on the exchange's London Mayor market, which is now edging towards the £500,000 level in traded volume.

But, perhaps like the punters involved in the late hours/early morning plunge, the market now has a more sober look to it.

While other bookmakers are still quoting Johnson as short as 2/7 to be the next London Mayor, the Betfair market gives Ken Livingstone a better chance of a successful late charge and currently sees Boris as the 1/2 favourite, with Ken the 2/1 underdog.

Betfair spokesman Tony Calvin commented: "Clearly, the Betfair market rates Boris as the likelier winner at this stage. But it also gives Ken greater cause for optimism than most pundits do."

To be next Mayor of London – Betfair bet: 1/2 Johnson, 2/1 Livingstone, 199/1 Paddick, 999/1 Any Other Candidate.
