Yes I think is the answer to that one...not bad anyway - overall a quick glance at the stats suggests that the figure of GG winners:Oscar winners is around the 70% mark.

A fairly handy site(down the bottom is a comparison between the two by category):

The Golden Globes

Re: Golden Globes 2007

Annoyingly I think SKybet have mostly got the odds right.

Juno could be the spoiler over to Sweeney Todd in Comedy/Musical but if you're quick you can get 6/1 over at Paddy Power.

Atonement could fit the literary sensibilities of the voting group BUT No Country For Old Men has been scooping awards left-and-right and is the one to beat in Best Drama and I can't see the Golden Globes falling out-of-line.

Ellen Page is a live 3/1 dog against Marion Cotillard in Comedy/Musical Actress.

The other races seem over and done with.

Re: Golden Globes 2007

Hmmm. Juno to win Best Comedy/Musical suspended over at Sky Bet. It was 2/1 which is the same price it is at Paddy Power. I've already bet on it at 6/1 so I ain't lumping any more on at 2/1 even if it is the winner....just in case it's a fool's errand and I've lumped on a red herring.

Ellen Page into 6/4 from 3/1 to win Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical.

Daniel Day-Lewis into 8/15 from 8/13 to win Best Actor in a Drama. Absolute banker in my opinion and I will be lumping on it something rotten but um, not at the full £260. I'll have a pop for £150 to win £80 though (ain't I silly!? I should have got on much earlier at the 8/13 but hey, Daniel's still got to be announced as the winner though. ).

I'm surprised there's no positive movement for There Will Be Blood to win Best Drama because it's been winning some awards of late but I assume No Country For Old Men is definitely the HFPA's steadfast choice to lift the Golden Globe instead. 10/1 is juicy odds for TWBB to pull off a 'Babel' type upset.

Julie Christie and Johnny Depp seem obvious choices for the HFPA in the other two categories.

Remember...there's no ceremony on Sunday night and it's just a press conference instead because of the various boycotts by the guilds.

Re: Golden Globes 2007

Hmmm. Glad I only really bothered hammering down the odds on Daniel Day Lewis as I kinda missed wildly with what would have been my other bets.

The winners where there was betting involved ~

* Best Film (Drama) - Atonement
* Best Film (Comedy/Musical) - Sweeney Todd
* Best Actor (Drama) - Daniel Day Lewis (There Will Be Blood)
* Best Actress (Drama) - Julie Christie (Away From Her)
* Best Actor (Comedy/Musical) - Johnny Depp (Sweeney Todd)
* Best Actress (Comedy/Musical) - Marion Cotillard (La Vie En Rose)

  • Was just thinking there, the best type of "fuck off " is the following; You`re playing astro, 5 a side, someone shouts "handball" and the "fuck off" response is fucking class.
