American Idol - Season 7

Well, after a highly successful reality tv gambling Autumn campaign, thanks to SCD and XF , we now can turn our sights to the Winter campaign - namely American Idol..! Actually it will be more of a Spring Campaign as the Final 12 shows start in March, but hey...

I believe it's the same schedule in the UK as before with ITV2 screening the Fox shows on the Friday following the Tuesday/Wednesday shows in the States so the first show on ITV2 will be on January 18th..

FOX has set out a detailed schedule for the upcoming seventh season of "American Idol," letting even fair-weather fans know when they should start tuning in.

Absolute "Idol" completists know that TV's No. 1 show in most key measures returns with a two-night, four-hour event on Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Wednesday, Jan. 16.

The early audition episodes, culled from cattle-calls in San Diego, Dallas, Omaha, Atlanta, Charleston, Miami and Philadelphia, will continue through one-hour episodes on Jan. 22, 23, 29 and 30, as well as Feb. 5 and 6.

That's eight episodes or 10 hours of auditions. Good times

Some viewers, though, aren't partial to the geek show aspect of the "Idol" auditions, preferring to wait until at least some of the cream has risen to the top. Those pickier viewers should know that Tuesday, Feb. 12 will be the first episode of the Hollywood Round, beginning with a two-hour episode. A second one-hour Hollywood episode will air the following night, culminating in the reveal of the Top 24.

For even pickier "Idol" fans, then, the Top 12 males and Top 12 females will perform in two-hour episodes on Tuesday, Feb. 19 and Wednesday, Feb. 20, followed by the season's first round of fan voting, leading to the elimination two men and two women on Feb. 21.

Tuesday will continue to be male night, as the Top 10 males sing on Feb. 26 (8:00-9:30 p.m. ET) and the Top 8 do battle on March 4 (8-9 p.m.). And the women will claim Wednesdays, with the Top 10 going on Feb. 27 (8:00-9:30 p.m. ET) and March 5 (9-10 p.m.). Eliminations will be Thursdays at 8 p.m., culminating in the reveal of the season's Top 12 on March 6.

That means, for those of you who don't like to start tuning in until the Top 12 is set, that the first performances by the Top 12 will air over two-hours on Tuesday, March 11. The season's first single elimination will be the follow night.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Ok - this is where it gets interesting. Tonight and tomorrow night on ITV2 we have the Bootcamps at Hollywood, and really now we should be keeping an eye out for the potential winners of the show. Good to see that ITV2 are showing the Tuesday/Wednesday screenings of the FOX broadcast on the Thursday and Friday of the same week instead of the usual format of cramming it all onto a Friday night.

From the Bootcamp episodes this week we will have the Final 24 (12 male and 12 female) that will go into the eliminations for the Final 12. We should also have individual odds when we get to the final24 – I’m sure Betfair post them as do a select few such as Bet365

Here is a summary of what we can expect schedule-wise from now until the unvealing of the Final 12 on March 6th

Dang! I haven't been paying any attention to this at all...the boys have already performed on Tuesday night! I didn't bother to note what the elimination odds were! It's the turn of the girls on Wednesday night though.

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Well, the final 24 heats are underway.. Strangely, no-one has really hit me as being special, and at the moment they just seem to be jostling for position for that lucrative top 12 place..

Anyhoo, I’ll go through briefly my thoughts on the main contenders and their current odds with Bet365 after the first live airings...

Alaina (35/1)
I like this girl. And the odds are nice.. She reminds me of younger Carrie Underwood a little bit. Only 16, but one hell of a voice. Slightly immature in terms of her attitude which I guess is understandable. Does AI want another Carrie though? I think she could get to the Top 12..

Alexandrea (33/1)
Simon said that she had the best performance of the night at that point.. Naaahh..Soz Simon but you were wrong there.. She could have an attitude..?

Amanda 20/1
The rockchick that looks like Cruella… I don’t like her – she has a nice rock voice but I can’t see her endearing herself to the audience – hence in the bottom 4 this week. Carly is the harder edged female performer that will get through to the last 12..

Brooke 20/1
She doesn’t have the best voice, but her ‘goody goody’ whiter than white religious background will give her plenty of support. No AI winner, but she could get to the last 12..

Carly 8/1
Could well have the best voice in the comp..However 2 factors may work against her. Firstly she is Irish? I know The States are fond of the Irish, but could she endear herself? Secondlty and more important – she used to be a pro singer with a record contract..Hmm..I see a possible Melinda situation here again..

Chikeze 60/1
The guy took a panning last week.. However he reminds me a bit of Ruben who won AI2 – but with personality. He is a big black guy with a big voice, and although he appears to be the favouite to go, I think he could last a bit longer

Danny 25/1
This unemployed gay lad with a bitch attitude is annoying..However I could see him being the new Sanjaya.. and last a bit…

David Archuleta 7/2
Well he is the man (or boy) of the moment…17 years old but with a loveable smile that will melt many a young girl heart. He also has a distinct gravely voice with a great range. The judges love him, but will he be able to adapt to the various themes when we get to the final 12..

Jason 7/1
Another guy who seems popular with the girls (and judges).. Not quite sure about him. He has a nice voice but not the greatest, and his image with his long hair as some kind of native American is erm..interesting.. I don’t think he is as good as the David or Michael..

Michael 11/4
He was the one that I remember quite distinctly from the auditions. The good looking Aussie with the great voice. They’re already comparing him to Michael Hutchence when they speak to him – whats the chance it’ll happen every week? He is a great singer, and ticks the boxes for a profile of a winner they haven’t had before. Will go far..

Ramiele 7/1
The little doll sized girl of asian decent. Boy does she have some voice..! She did impress me a lot and another banker for the Final 12..

Syesha 15/2
Extremely fit black singer with a great voice. Looks good and sounds good, but are we due another black female singer..? hmmm… Still I do like her

Of the rest..? Well not sure – none of the others stand out too much at the moment and some are just shite – in particular that annoying ‘dad’ Jason who is wank, but will get support from the audience. A bit like that annoying sailor who was in a couple of years ago..

No betting moves as yet – still a watching brief…

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Ok..Just had a look at the elimination odds.. I am surprised that Chikeze is 8/13 for the boot. A terrible price and one tha I wouldn't be entertaining..

However one I will, is for annoying dad Jason Yeager to eet the bullet next week at 6/5.. He aint good, he aint got any charisma and he has an anoying blond streak at the front of his hair.. Hopefully the 'single dad' factor won't screw me...

I would have pegged his odds at around 10/11 to go..

Jason Yeagor to be eliminated in week 2 of the Final 24 - 6 p stake @ 6/5 (Bet365)

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Hmmm. I'm gonna put £25 at 7/5 on Kristy Lee Cook going. Some of the rumoured song selections are:

Ramiele Malubay - Band of Gold
Amanda Overmyer - Killing Me Softly
Kristy Lee Cook - You Light Up My Life
Asia'h Epperson - Let's Stay Together
Carly Smithson - Touch Me in the Morning
Alexandrea Lushington - The Locomotion
Kady Malloy - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

David Hernandez - Knock Three Times
Chikezie Eze - Let's Get It On
Jason Yaeger - Three Times A Lady
Jason Castro - Hotel California
David Archuleta - Imagine

Alexandra looks like a goner with that song. Kristy Lee doesn't have a particular good song to sing and neither do David Hernandez and Chikizie Eze. Not sure how the audience will take to Carly. Jason's song is cheesy and is certainly worth a bet for him to go.

Chikezie could be this year's Sanjaya. The notorious VotefortheWorst.com are supporting Danny Noreiga though (they're undecided about a female to 'support' though).

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Well, the more I think about it (and bearing in mind the next heats are tonight) the more I feel that Alaina has a lot to offer and although typical me I missed the move on the 35/1 price, the price of 25/1 from Bet365 is nice enough to have an early bit of interest..

I think for a 16 (or maybe now she is 17) year old she is incredibly talented and she does have a fair bit of appeal. Not sure she'll win but 25's is still reasonable..

Alaina Whittaker to win American Idol - 2 pt stake @ 25/1 (Bet365)

Re: American Idol - Season 7

Those rumours were to put it politely, generally shite. The running order and what they actually sung:

1. Michael Johns - Go Your Own Way (the dreaded 'first to sing' spot!)
2. Jason Castro - I Just Want To Be Your Everything
3. Luke Menard - Killer Queen
4. Robbie Carrico - Hot Blooded
5. Danny Noriega - Until You Come Back To Me
6. David Hernandez - Pap Was A Rolling Stone
7. Jason Yaeger - Long Train Runnin'
8. Chikezie Eze - I Believe
9. David Cook - Alright Now
10. David Archuleta - Imagine

Reality TV Magazine think that Jason Yeager is doomed whilst Chikezie Eze and David Hernandez did more than enough to survive.
