X-Factor versus Strictlly Come Dancing..Saturday Night Ratings Battle!

Which show will have the most peak viewers?
Settled on peak viewers figures. Applies to Saturday 6th October showings of both the X Factor (ITV) and Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1). Bets void if a result cannot be obtained.

X Factor 4 - 6
Strictly Come Dancing 11 - 10

Ok on initial view, one would suspect that X factor now has an entrenched viewership and lets bear in mind that Saturday's (and Sunday's) show is one of the key events of the whole series - it decides who are in the final 12.. On that info alone you would have to think that X Factor should stroll it...


However..

Strictly Come Dancing starts at 6.15 pm, half an hour before X Factor.. Would this have an bearing on the numbers viewing? Also Dancing has it's opening show on Saturday which means that the viewer numbers could well be higher initially...

Hmmm..Anyone got any historic viewer figures before I consider a dabble on XF??? Stereo...You there...?

I suppose it is but until something comes along that's completely different but brilliant that's the way it goes.

Ladbrokes go 5/6 the pair. I should have done my research and I may still do. No idea what last week's SCD documentary got or what the ratings were for last year when they faced off at the same time for the first time.

I think SCD is the value though if I had to bet on it but I'll try and do some research if I can be bothered to.

SCD's documentary got thumped last week. It got 4.7 million viewers whilst the first of The X Factor shows got 6.8 million.

The X Factor has Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway as a lead-in whilst Strictly Come Dancing has...A Question of Sport!

C'mon...this surely is no contest!? First blood goes to The X Factor in my opinion.

Folks who watch Ant and Dec are probably going to stay on to watch The X Factor and not switch over to Strictly Come Dancing.

BUT...

Folks over at Digital Spy think SCD will triumph as it's devoted fanbase at BARB will drive them over the edge and that they WILL tune in to the first show (despite Ant and Dec) suggesting that because it starts 45 minutes earlier it'll get a headstart and viewers that watch both SCD and TXF will stick to SCD.

Slightly different circumstances last year but yes, SCD did indeed beat The X Factor in it's first head-to-head encounter albeit by only 0.4 million!
