Re: 59th Annual Emmy Awards

I've been waiting for someone other than Bodog to put odds up but it appears no-one is willing to risk putting out odds so early yet.

The Emmys are on Sunday 16th September at 8pm EST.

A couple of underdogs I like the look the look of in Comedy Actor and Comedy Actress. The Sopranos and James Gandolfini seem almost nailed-on to get their awards.

There's a couple of fairly strong favourites at slight odds-against. The other categories are a mixed bag.

No doubt that one slight push and some nominees will go heavy odds-on over at Bodog.

Re: 59th Annual Emmy Awards

DANG!! I'm not focusing properly. The Simpsons backed into 10/11 over at Bodog and that category's announced on Saturday 8th (a week before the main awards are handed out) at the Creative Arts Emmys. I'm putting $55 on 'em (they raised my maximum by $5!). They've got the movie out, the show's broadcast on FOX (which is hosting the Emmys this year...it all points to them).

Bet365 have odds out:

Outstanding Comedy Series

The Office 1/1
30 Rock 5/2
Ugly Betty 16/5
Entourage 7/1
Two and a Half Men 15/2

Outstanding Drama Series

The Sopranos 4/11
Heroes 11/2
House 13/2
Grey's Anatomy 13/2
Boston Legal 15/2

Outstanding Lead Actor Comedy Series

Steve Carell - The Office 5/4
Ricky Gervais – Extras 11/4
Alec Baldwin - 30 Rock 3/1
Tony Shalhoub – Monk 9/2
Charlie Sheen - Two And A Half Men 13/2

Outstanding Lead Actor Drama Series

James Gandolfini - The Sopranos 4/9
Hugh Laurie – House 5/1
Denis Leary - Rescue Me 11/2
James Spader - Boston Legal 13/2
Kiefer Sutherland – 24 7/1

Outstanding Lead Actress Comedy Series

America Ferrera - Ugly Betty 8/13
Felicity Huffman - Desperate Housewives 9/2
Mary-Louise Parker – Weeds 5/1
Julia Louis-Dreyfus - The New Adventures Of Old Christine 11/2
Tina Fey - 30 Rock 6/1

Outstanding Lead Actress Drama Series

Sally Field - Brothers & Sisters 11/4
Edie Falco - The Sopranos 3/1
Kyra Sedgwick - The Closer 3/1
Minnie Driver - The Riches 7/2
Mariska Hargitay - Law & Order: Special Victims Unit 5/1
Patricia Arquette – Medium 7/1

Lead Actress Drama Series is a minefield. The rest of the favourites are favoured to win but I'm not convinced that The Office, Steve Carell or America Ferrera will win. The Sopranos and James Gandolfini look very tempting at those odds.

Watch out for late predictions from insiders. They were on the money last year as regards 24, Mariska Hargitay, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Tony Shalhoub and Kiefer Sutherland winning. The only odds-on shot that won was The Office.

Re: 59th Annual Emmy Awards

Hmmm. The Simpsons did not win with South Park prevailing. Could be a night full of wins from underdogs.

Re: 59th Annual Emmy Awards

Bodog are still allowing betting on Outstanding Animated Program!? Well I'm not telling 'em but I ain't betting on it either.

Most bookies have been on lockdown/ignored the Emmys in fear of insider betting and it's seemingly only BetED, Bodog and um, Bet24 who are still allowing bets (really, really should have got a move on as I've been distracted by trying to cover a whole load of events with varying degrees of success ranging from OK to absolute disaster). It's been really quiet this year trying to bet on the Emmys as though nobody really wants to know.

You can have a look at what the late buzz is/predictions are as to who the likely winners will be.

The Envelope.com:
emmy watch 2007 mega predictor table

Late buzz on Alec Baldwin to win Lead Actor Comedy.

What am I predicting? The Office, The Sopranos, Alec Baldwin, America Ferrera, James Gandolfini, Edie Falco and The Amazing Race.
What am I betting on? Alec Baldwin and The Amazing Race.

BET 1: £25 at 5/2 that Alec Baldwin wins Lead Actor Comedy at Bet24.
BET 2: £25 at 5/4 that The Amazing Race wins Reality/Competition Program at Bet24.

OT: I can't say I'm a fan of Bet24 and it's probably one of the worst looking sites out there. It's like an online bookie stuck in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if they shut up shop owing punters in the next six months because they spent all their money sponsoring Blackburn Rovers.

Re: 59th Annual Emmy Awards

The Amazing Race won and so did Ricky Gervais. Eh. I'm gonna withdraw my money from Bet24 as soon as possible.
