Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
Who Will Host the Games in 2016 Book Closes 15 Sep 11:00
Chicago 2.75 Tokyo 4.50 Rio de Janeiro 5.50 Dubai 11.00 Prague 17.00 Madrid 17.00 Montreal 21.00 Argentina 21.00 St Petersburg 21.00 Rome 29.00 Chile 34.00 Azerbaijan 41.00 Hamburg 41.00 Portugal 41.00 Thailand 41.00 Qatar 51.00 Rotterdam 67.00 Kenya 81.00 Tel Aviv 81.00 Odds Bet365 Well i think we can rule out the European bids so soon after London 2012, and how many times have the Americans held the competition in the last 30 yrs or so, surely they can't get it again. Bejing may be to close to tokyo and i can't recall an Olympcs ever being in South America so maybe Rio de Janiero has a chance or even an African Country if they take a leaf out of Fifa's book for the world cup. |

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
Money talks at the Olympics, and I really don't feel that South America would be equipped (or stable) enough to host them..
Time for the USA again I'm afraid..Chicago are the ones for me..but at 2.75.. ![]() Many others are no chances...However Dubai are an interesting contender at 11's.. |

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
You could be right lads allthough i do like the sound of Rio, It would do the Olympics no harm to put a bit of sparkle back into the games as they seem to have lost there shine.

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
Since Atlanta in 1996 the games have gone to Sydney and Athens and will be going to Beijing and London. It could therefore be argued that it is the American Continents turn again.
Rio has just staged the Pan-Am games and it went very well with about 200 000 extra security people bought in to ensure safety against the backdrop or the towns violent image. The Maracana is now well past the sell by date and needs major refurbishment or knocking down and building again. Brazil is the only bidder for the 2014 World Cup so far so plans could be made to build a suitable stadium for both events. |

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
Winner announced today.... Chicago 4/7 favourites and with President Obama flying in to Copenhagen to represent his hometown surely a shue in? That saiid Paris were last time until Lomdon spoiled the party for 2012 and so Rio must be hoping for the same, but I can't see it and so I have lumped on Chicago..hope

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
They seem quite confident here in Madrid, but then I guess with all the money they're spending on the bid, they can hardly turn round and say "We've got fuck all chance really". Don't think they do really stand a chance though, surely it can't be London then Madrid for successive olympics?
What's happened to Tokyo, they were 3rd favourites a couple of days ago, what's happened to make them the outsiders now? |

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
Interestingly Madrid are the movers in the market.. Rio stay solid 2nd favourites..Chicago drift out on Betfair looking to touch 1.70..
..Could there be some sort af Anti-America voting backlash about to occur? |

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
Chicago now out to 2.1, Rio closing in fast at 2.5, while Madrid have come in from around 14 this morning to 8.4 now. Madrid the only ones left to give their presentation, will be interesting to see how that goes. Worth bearing in mind they've been here before, having missed out at this stage for 2012, they've had a long time to work on this and make sure they get it right.
Actually, in the 2 minutes it's taken me to type this, Rio have moved in to favourites @ 2.1, with Chicago now 2.3 ![]() |

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
Thinking about it, another thing against Madrid (apart from the fact it'd mean 2 successive Olympics in Europe) is that many of their traditional allies are in South America, but the chance to bring the games to their continent may tempt some of those to side with Rio this time.

Re: Who Will Host the Olympic Games in 2016
If Madrid (or Rio) get knocked out early then I guess most of the latin vote will go straight to the other city
