Tremendous game so far. Saints playing well, except when they are receiving a kick off. Don't think its over yet mind.

Re: Rugby League 10-12th Sep
Saints win was well deserved, can't take nothing away from them.
Its worth noting Warrington seemed to struggle with the wet weather, yet when they played Wigan at the DW in similar conditions they seemed to flourish, strange. Nice to see Matty Smith get MOTM, looks like he's trying to show Saints what they are losing just like he did when he scored a hat trick against them when playing for Salford, just caught his interview at the end of the match and if you ask me he's proved a point now and I'll be suprised if we see a display like that again from him in the playoffs. Well done Saints but I won't be writing Warrington off just yet as they are a lot better than that, tonight they seemed stuck in 2nd gear, they still have another game to reach the semis which i expect them to do. It was a good game to start the playoffs but I think thats only a taster of better games to come, I'm really looking forward to the Hull derby tomorrow. |

Re: Rugby League 10-12th Sep
Struggling to name a bad Saints player. Wire's first 2 tries came from good field position after silly penalties and they did have the Saints on toast on that wing. Loaded it up both times and both times had a 2 man advantage. Once they had sorted that out a Saints win began to look inevitable. Quite right IMO to keep taking the 2 points and were also happy to keep banging the ball long downnfield. Wire for all their attacking players, did not look that threatening from deep and as you said Slick, they just did not adapt to conditions. I know that you have also monitored Jamie Foster closely and again the lad did not put a foot wrong.

Re: Rugby League 10-12th Sep
Fosters a great young talent , its hard to believe he's only 20, as I was watching the game the wife noticed him and said "ain't he skinny for a rugby player"
, after which i then had to go on and explain to her he's a winger and then spent the next 10 mins explaining the different positions and physical sizes of the rugby players, in the end it sunk in thats its no good having a 20 stone sack of muscle out on the wing trying to run 100 metres in less than 12 seconds as it just won't happen. The good thing about Foster is that he's a down to earth kid who appreciates what rugby will give him, he's not flash or big headed like a footballer who possess's the same skill level would be, he knows his place and realises he still has a lot to learn, if he carrys on in that same vane he deserves all the success the game will bring him at the top level. For the first time tonight mind I noticed he looked a bit edgy when kicking, so he's only human like the rest of us under pressure, I was just as relieved as him when that kick near the end went in off the post, that was not luck mind , it was just deserts for all the practise he no doubts puts in, he will gain a lot experience wise from situations like that, which will hold him in good stead for the future. He has to be nailed on as young player of the year. Last edited by slick : 10-09-2010 at 23:11. |

Re: Rugby League 10-12th Sep
Thought you'd have had the wife a bit better trained. Does she know the offside rule in Football ?

Re: Rugby League 10-12th Sep
![]() She fcuking better had as I've spent half my married life explaining it to her, in fact make that half my life as thats how long I've been married. It was hard work in the early days but she's quicker than me now to spot an offside, which annoys me at times as I'll say "is it fcuk" only for the replay to prove her right , for some reason it seems to happen most when City are playing.I've done quite well educating her tell the truth as when we first met she knew nothing and wasn't interested in sport, living with me and the constant bombardment 24/7 has brought her on leaps and bounds, she must be worth a fortune now. |

Re: Rugby League 10-12th Sep
One thing that I did forget to mention was the Scott Moore situation. According to some pretty well connected friends of mine, the guy was dropped. Big call with the injuries they had as he had pretty much played the whole season.

Matty Smith to start in the Semi final ? Eastmond and Lomax will probably be fit to start ( though in Eastmond's case probably not fit to finish ) No brainer for me, he is the man in possession of the shirt and should keep it.

Re: Rugby League 10-12th Sep
it was a massive call if Moore was dropped allthough personally i can't see it. Smith to start the semi? its a tough one but on toinights performance Potter would be a brave man to drop him , as you say on tonights performance he's earned the shirt and after signing for Salford it will be his last chance of any sort of medal for a long while so the incentive to perform is there.
