Re: RBS Six Nations 2010

Obviously i would like scotland to put on a show but i realise that aint gonna happen, although if they play with all the guts and determination they showed against the aussies then theres always a small hope. I think possibly france but it could just as easily be wales or ireland too, not much between them.

Italy need to get fit and learn to use their physical size to their advantage, then they would be a crackin team.

Re: RBS Six Nations 2010

Italy have the will, they lack the skills but that can be worked on. If they can get two teams into the ML it will be of great help. Its a big country & imo it wouldn't take much to make the step up. Okay maybe not winning the championship but if they can (or should I say if the home nations let them!) get things in place they will stop being cannon fodder by the end of this decade.

Don't think so?

Remember Ireland in the '90's

I agree, also think with Nick Mallet (ex springbok coach) at the helm, in time they will improve. He has been in charge for a couple of years now and there has been improvement.

Re: RBS Six Nations 2010

France the team to beat for me. England arent playing well at all and my beloved Wales arent performing at all this year although the ospreys big win the other day will give the guys confidents. France have so much strength in depth its unreal, 3 quality scrum halfs and a hand full of good 10's, plus their pack cannot be matched on their day. 3 out of their 5 games are at home, French teams always play that 20% better when they're at home. The only game i can see them slipping up is Scotland away. Ye Ye i know Scotland dont have any outstanding world class players but Robinson will make them into a unit, a very tuff unit. Edinbourgh and Glasgow are going really well in the Magners and with France is dodgy away record this is one match ill defo be getting on. Lets not forget that this Scotland team beat Austrailia in the Autumn, An Austrailian team that beat both England and Scotland and almost turned over the Irish. This is a team on the up and Ill be backing them for the Calcutta cup and the opening game.

BC, I 'll take your claims in good faith. However, France with quality 9&10's???

Please be a bit more precise as I'm living in the bloody country & bar Jean Baa Elissade they have no-one that would make most GP/ML teams. (of course I'm not including Dupuy as he is suspended).

As for the pack it is strong but the T14 is littered with foreign imports & when you're looking for "pure souche" froggies they have no better than the rest of the 6N.

Biased I may be after listening to the buggers for the last two decades but if their is one thing I know it is that the French are past masters in wasting talent due to politics. They may finish third but even that will be a good result.

Re: RBS Six Nations 2010

They will be a massive force at home there is no doubt. But they have 2 quality 9's in Parra and Ellisade. If you can afford to leave Michalak and Yachvili out you must be doing somthing right. If you look at there back line for example. Medard, Jauzion, Clerc, Heymas, Rougerie, Malzeiu. They havent included big players such as Traille, Marty and Mermoz. I cant think of any another nation that have got so much strength in depth.

I totaly agree with you about the politics. Marc Lievremont seems more worried about picking the old heads rather than giving the young talent a go. How Mermoz and Floch havent made the grade is beyond me.

Parra is young & at the 'mo is flaky to say the least. Jean Baa is the best 9 & 10 (French qualified) in France. Yachvilli has a chip on his shoulder bigger than Mac Donalds & will give up at least 2pens if not a yellow over a match. Michalak is a total waste of space, the guy believes his own agents/adverts & without his "image" would struggle to find a spot in the french third divison.

Mermoz & Floch have had poor form & have all been struggling with injuries over the last while so its not a total surprise. All going well we may see them later.

In a word the french (along) with the english, have all they need to dominte NH rugby. But they can't. Blame who you like but they can't deny that one Celt is worth 15 Saxons/Frogs
