Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

Could not find a thread on this league so here goes.

Castres 8/11-Stade Francais 11/10.

This should be a very tight game and Castres are slight favorites. However I'm going with SF.

Castres have won the last 4 home games but Teulet, Castres goal kicker & main supply of points is out (depression!). Colin Gaston is very doubtful and if he does not play Castres will have just 2 2nd rows for the 80 mins, one of whom did not train all week (Ortega, back problem). they also have a very important match against Albi next week in the race for a place in Europe.

Paris have won their last 5 games and though missing a lot of squad on 6 nations duty are still fielding a strong team.
They also got the fright of their lives last week when Auch (last) came very close to beating them. This was followed by a very public dressing down by the coach.
All this should provide enough motivation for Paris to win.
Castres taking the defensive bonus point.

You wont find a thread on anything in here snodser as the rugby forum has never really taken off. It's a good forum to have though snodser and your more than welcome to post anthing at all about rugby in here be it betting or just about rugby. I was hoping it could be a decent rugby forum in its own right with the obvious heavy emphasis on betting on rugby.

Great to read some Rugby tips snodser and i'll take your tip for this one

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

Would not call it a worry, would not call it a "nap" either mind!

I will be sweating a bit tonight but I think its worth it
Love to find a crystel ball but don't know where it got to...

Anyway,
As I said it is the absence of Teulet(2nd best kicker in the Top14 this season) that makes me go with Paris.

Paris are 8/2 and 2nd in the league
Castres 5/5 and 7th.

Castres did pull off a surprise win against Clermont(3rd, 7/3),but only thanks to Teulet!!

Paris want it more and Castres are missing too many key players, so I'm sticking to my guns but I won't hold it against if you prefer to wait and see.

FT: Castres 16-47 Stade Francais

Castres very poor, looked as if they lost the game before leaving the dressing room.
Paris were not great, but did not have to be.

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

Thanks for the offer kompressaur, I'm flattered.
Afraid I'm promised to a chelsea pensioner in exchange of a few soccer bets.

I'm sure you'll find someone soon.

I'm looking forward to a severe rugby overdose today.
Back later

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

Top 14; Weekend picks.

There is very little value to be had on this weekends games.
I do NOT like h/cap betting.
Taking the following singles & will have a look at possible perms including 6 nations.

All comments welcome.

Toulouse v Brive:
Toulouse may be missing some good players but Brive are putting out a second string.
Toulouse -8

Perpignan v Auch:
Auch are going down and have nothing to play for bar their pride. Will most likely concentrate on getting some home wins before the end of the season. Perpignan is in the middle of yet another crisis but will come out on top. They have won all their home games bar one, (draw with Bourgoin).
Perpignan -5

Clermont v Montauban:
Montauban should put up a fight but Clermont will win this one.
Clermont -5

Montpellier v Dax:
Dax are not relegated yet but defeat here would be another nail in their coffin. Montpelier lost a game they could/should have won last week and will be up for it. Close but can't see past a win for Montpellier.
Montepellier

Bayonne v Albi:
Injuries all round but Bayonne to win this one.
Albi's main objective is to avoid relagation and they have had a very hard fortnight. They will put up a fight but.......
Bayonne

Bourgoin v Biarritz:
They only match I am not sure of. Bourgoin have their backs to the wall and home advantage.(very important in France).
Biaritz did spring a surprise last week against Montepellier but their has been 9 changes(6 nations) so I'm going with Bourgoin.

Re: Rugby Union, France, Top 14.

Well as you can see the previous post did not come out as intended

On to tonights game.

Montauban v Montpelier

the 9th v the 6th Montauban have lost 5 of their last 6, Montepelier 4 from 6.
Not a lot between them on paper but I'm going with Montauban. They have home advantage & 4 of the lost games were very close run affairs.

Montepelier are not ducking this game and are sending out a good team but I feel they will be happy to come home with a bonus point.

Will probably be a low scoring game but I think Montauban will want it more.

So Montauban to win (1/3 Boyle Sports) & if you are feeling brave you could have a little look at Montepelier +8 10/11.

All comments welcome!
