Re: My 5 a day (£20 to £1120)
Good start to the thread yesterday, now I have to build on that. 5 meetings today and no football tonight so its a horse laying day consisting of 3 afternoon + 2 evening , or 4 afternoon 1 evening day. Depends what I can find at Dundalk as I cant watch Kempton and hate betting when I cant see whats happening !
Cant afford to lose as ive just taken some sick time off work and need the stimulation . Feel like crap and the the little girl has it too and cant go to nursery and no one to have her so its down to me and cant take time off without pay coz it`ll cost me £80 a day (justifying it to myself here !! ) so the deed had to be done. Back later Grim |

Re: My 5 a day (£20 to £1120)
Day 2
[006] Calusa Crystal 12:55 Newbury @ 21 to win £1.43 b4 comm I was waiting to be matched on this at 17, it was 16.5 to back 17.5 to lay. Nipped out, 30 mins later and its 20 to back 21 to lay so people are obviously seeing what im seeing. Despite the form figures its been running in low grade affairs , it was well beaten on its chase debut, Phillip Hobbs stable isnt in the best of form, and there`s 3 horses who are clearly better animals, 2 of which have the potential to be very good. Firstly the fav Riverside theatre for Nicky Henderson, who`s going chasing at just the age of 5, something Henderson rarely does, and this horse could be cheltenham bound. Lady And Co, a Paul Nicholls horse, again ex french, and only 4. Nicholls has won this race 3 of the last 4 years so knows whats needed. Then there`s the form yardstick in Captain Americo, whos run twice over fences, both placing behind good horses of Nicholls - Take The Breeze and Pride Of Dulcotte. He`ll be there to pick up the pieces if the top two fail. And there`s a 4th horse of Jonjo`s who ran too freely 1st time out but showed immense promise in france and again is only 4, if he settles better he could bustle up the front 3. Jonjos invariably improve for the run as novices, and if AP McCoy gets hold of him early he could be a danger. Whatever happens today Calusa Crystal has it all to do and will need a lot of luck to win. She`s too slow for this lot and her future lies in mediocre handicaps I think. Grim PS I cant promise write ups on every race, i`ll do them when I have the time ![]() |

Re: My 5 a day (£20 to £1120)
Calysa Crystal 2nd but highly flattered by that. Riverside Theatre was fantastic on his debut and is a highly promising horse, jumped like a stag when asked , and quickened very nicely. Lady An Co went off too fast and faded from 2nd to last in the final 50yds and Calusa just got 2nd in a 3 way photo with the other two Al Co and Gibbonsgrove, who were both tailed off at halfway, and the proximity of 100/1 Gibbonsgrove backs up my theory that the other 3 arent upto much bar the leader who went way way too fast trying to get the finishing kick out of the fav.

Day 2
[006] Calusa Crystal 12:55 Newbury @ 21 to win £1.43 £30.12 [007] King Brex 1:40 Taunton @ 7.6 to win £4.56 b4 comm This is the last throw of the dice for a horse who has been handicapped out of things over hurdles. Theyre trying chasing (again) after having nowhere to go over hurdles and its spells failure. On his only chase run he ran at easy jumping course Fontwell and made several mistakes and eventually pulled up in an average at bets handicap. There`s 3 promising horses in opposition today and 1, Olympian Boy has won round here twice already. The other 2 are built for chasing and are potentially much better than they have shown so far. It would need a very improved performance from King Brex to win , or 3 below par runs from the other 3 ,for him to get home infront here. Its a chance im willing to take at the odds available. Cheers Grim |

Re: My 5 a day (£20 to £1120)
Im living dangerously today, shocking race , all 4 tried to throw it away , King Brex`s hurdling speed got it as close as it did, along with the 2 leaders stopping on the run in. Steer clear of all 4 of those in future !

Re: My 5 a day (£20 to £1120)
Yeah ,im kinda torn now though Pete ! Ive 2 options if and when I get to £50. I can either do as planned and bank of half of every bets profit. But that would still leave me out of pocket if I were to hit a winner in my next 25 or so bets. Or my other option would be to risk 50% of my bank on each lay. Meaning were I to hit a winner, even with my 1st bet, id still be ahead of my initial starting bank.
Im not sure if that would be as productive though, due to me taking the safer option, as that route is as profitable generaly. Anyone any thoughts on this? Plenty time to decide as may take another 2 days until I get there yet. Cheers Grim |
