Trickrick's not so sentimental journey...

Bah...My free bet didnt result in anything..

However having withdrawn copious amounts of cash from my Partybets account after backing Alesha in Strictly Come Dancing (check out the thread in the Special Bets Forum - a great read !! ), I have left in $41.65. What that is in quids?? - I'm not sure - maybe £20, but lets see if I can get the damned amount up to at least £100.00..

Bet 1 - Top Xmas Day UK TV Programme - Eastenders 8pm show - $41.65 @ 1/2

Re: Trickrick's not so sentimental journey...

2004
1 EastEnders 12.82
2 The Vicar of Dibley 12.52
3 Coronation Street 11.99
4 Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone 8.38
5 Emmerdale 7.76

2005
1 EastEnders 10.60
2 Doctor Who 9.84
3 Coronation Street 9.81
4 The Two Ronnies Christmas Sketchbook 7.87
5 Shrek 6.74

2006:
1 Vicar Of Dibley 11.4 million
2 EastEnders 10.7 million
3 Coronation Street 9.6 million
4 EastEnders 9.2 million
5 Dr Who 8.7 million
6 Little Britain Abroad 8.4 million
7 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special 7.3 million

Enders always gets a good shoeing during the year from Corrie, but beats it at Xmas, for whatever reason. With the Max/video story very well built up, the cash should be safe on this one. Good luck MITK.

Are you sure the bets a winner?

Part 1 + Part 2 = 25.7 Million / 2 Shows = Average viewing of 12.55 Million. Thats not enough to beat Dr. Where ...

Maybe im gettin' into it a little to much......

Eastenders figure is taken as whichever is higher JB. Having said that, I did read something about recordings etc being taken into account on 'final figures', so maybe not quite done and dusted yet.

BBC wins Christmas Day ratings battle
By Nicole Martin, Digital and Media Correspondent
Last Updated: 2:38pm GMT 26/12/2007

The BBC trounced ITV in this year’s festive television ratings war, screening nine of the 10 most popular programmes on Christmas Day.

Six million people tuned in to see the Queen's Christmas message

EastEnders was the biggest draw with 13.9 million people tuning in for the second half of a double bill, making it the most watched show of the year so far.

The programme, which focused on the discovery of Stacey Branning’s affair with her father-in-law, attracted 55.3 per cent of the total audience share, according to overnight viewing figures.

The Dr Who Christmas special starring Kylie Minogue as a waitress on the Titanic came second with 12.2 million viewers compared with 8.7 million last year.

Other big ratings winners included Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles’s reunion as the aristocratic Audrey fforbes-Hamilton and the dashing businessman Richard DeVere in a special edition of To the Manor Born.

advertisementThe programme drew an audience of 9.8 million, more than Shrek 2 (9.1 million), Strictly Come Dancing Special (8.3 million) and Finding Nemo (7.1 million).

This year’s royal address, in which the Queen paid tribute to those who had lost loved ones in Iraq and Afghanistan, was watched by six million viewers on BBC1 compared with 5.7 million last year.

On ITV1, a total of 1.7 million tuned in, down on last year’s 1.9 million.

More than 350,000 people from across the world have also watched the Queen’s message on YouTube, the video sharing website, which is home to a new Royal Channel.

Coronation Street was the only ITV1 entry in the top 10 most viewed programmes with 8.9 million viewers. Its second most watched programme was Emmerdale with 5.8 million viewers.

In total, BBC1 won 36.8 per cent of the total audience during Christmas Day, with the figure rising to 45.2 per cent in peak time (6pm-10.30pm).

ITV1 attracted 18.1 per cent of the audience, rising to 24.2 per cent in peak time.

Meanwhile, the Channel 4 programme with the highest rating was Deal or No Deal, which was watched by 1.9 million people.

The Most Shocking Celebrity Moments of the 90s attracted Five’s highest number of viewers, with 1.1 million at its peak.

Roly Keating, the acting Controller of BBC1, said: "It’s heartening to see that the great tradition of Christmas family viewing seems to be alive and well.

"We were delighted that audiences found so much to enjoy in our line-up of programmes on BBC1. From the compelling drama of EastEnders to a spectacular Doctor Who and the welcome return of To The Manor Born, this was a Christmas when some of the nation’s favourite performers and writers did us all proud."
