Re-buy Strategy

With rebuys i accomodate about 8 buyins for them. I rebuy first hand and then depending on how i feel and the stakes i-

1) keep it tight with my double stack and look at doubling up again soon there after. If i am going nowhere near the end of the rebuy period i will start pushing any pair (from lateish position) or cards that can flop big. if its a crazy $2 one i'll maybe rebuy 15 times just chucking it in tryin gto get a big stack for the end of it.

If you play rebuys and just take your buyin then may i recommend that you dont play rebuys till you can afford to at least double rebuy and take the addon. No point in not giving yourself a chance from the off.

2) Go crazy and push any pair 77+ and ...well just the same to get a big stack.

To me though im happy if i can take the addon and be still almost avg stack. Thats the lowest aim i have. Rebuys are bad for your ROI especially turbo ones. You know your gonna need to get very lucky a few times just to be about 20 minutes after the 1st break.

I dunno what you think but Alex Ross once told me these 'rules' and i sneered as 'no cnut can tell me anything' Truth of the matter is he was right. Don't play in these events unless you have a healthy bankroll and don't mind getting it all in.

actually here's some unedited notes i have on a post i was going to do. It's kinda relevant. It was going to be called "How To Win a Poker Tournament"

You Must Run Good

-Win Coinflips. Even with 5% of the field left and your sitting pretty you'll still have to win about 7/10 of your coinflips and hoping the ones you lose is not for all your chips.

-Get Paid with your big hands. When you hit your set you want to get paid or with an overpair

-Avoid getting coolered (hero KK v Villians AA)

You Need To Get Lucky

-When you semibluff all in with a big draw your oppnent has to fold or you have to hit your hand

-you will need to suck out at least once for all your chips

You Must Play Good

-Be aware of stack sizes. your and opponents. What you can do with your stack size.

-Make good preflop and post flop decisions.

-Need to know your image and pick your spots.

You Need To Play For The Win

-Get aggressive when your opponents tighten up (money bubble, final table bubble)

-Play well and adjust to short handed play.

-Understand ICM and know when to gamble. If there are bad players at the table there is no need to take coinflip or with a hand that might be best.

For instance sakes. I double rebought in the tournie im in. I think i played 2 hands in the rebuy bit. I got my addon and here i am with avg in chips. No reason why i can't go on and win now. You just need to be in with a shot. If i was a poof and never rebought or whatever i would be sitting with a poofy unwinnable stack without a shout. Take your rebuys and chip up folks.

If I'm playing a rebuy (which is rare) I only play a rebuy 1/4 of the stake of a freezeout. I allow myself 2 rebuys and always take the addon if its more than 10-20% of my stack (depending on what the average is)

Try to avoid them really as at low limits you get better odds on the lottery

nah but the beauty is Pete if you can afford it it's almost guaranteed you can get a massive stack within that first hour. It might take the best hand to get it or it might take the next best hand but if youve got over avg stack at the start of a rebuy (non turbo) there's a good chance you'll get a handsome return. These things you can just chuck it in as long as you get an avg+ stack after rebuy period. Some crazy manicness from these folks that dont deserve a stack. You can go hyper dyper and just get crazy chips!
