Learning From My Mistakes

Gonna keep note of these. Most are things i know not to do but the human bit of me makes me do them. i must cut them out my game.

1.Dont call early position raises from tight players with KJs in the Big blind. just fold it and move on.

2. Dont call all-ins with AQ even if the player pushing all in is wild and wreckless. Your never in good shape. again just fold and move on.

3. dont call all ins with AK when it puts your tournie life at stake.

4. give up suited connectors and real low player in early position when the blinds are high.

more to come. Add your own if you want.

Re: Learning From My Mistakes

Ive got to stay away from turbos and speed mtt's. even if i have to double rebuy and take the add on at the end of the first hour it still stays slow enough for you to double up etc. Lets you still play poker. aye no more turbos etc. crack cocaine.

Taking notes on people as you go is so important imo. Yes this data can become outdateds in time as players get better but having a few notes on people as you sit down at the table sure gives you a little bit of confidence. also look at every hand and take notes on people as you go. By the 1st break you should have notes on 4/5th of the table. It does give you confidence in a hand with someone.

Re: Learning From My Mistakes

the best time to steal blinds is when the antes start becoming 1/3rd of the small blind. I play anything in middle or late position for a raise if im first into a pot if i have more than 20 x the big blind

1.Dont call early position raises from tight players with KJs in the Big blind. just fold it and move on.
Dont call without KK, AA, QQ, when blinds are small, if there are higher blinds then you can open more and add JJ and 1010, so KJ is never call in any situation in this scenario.

2. Dont call all-ins with AQ even if the player pushing all in is wild and wreckless. Your never in good shape. again just fold and move on.
If blinds are low, never call AQ suited or offsuited, not even a bet, if blinds are medium if your on the button raise with AQ, if blinds are high and your shorstacked call.

3. dont call all ins with AK when it puts your tournie life at stake.
In first few levels i agree, but when blinds are higher call or push with AK.

4. give up suited connectors and real low player in early position when the blinds are high.
Speculative cards play only from late position and just limp in early few levels, when blinds are higher never call with this cards or you will get punished. (i love high blind limping players, hehe, sometimes i just push with any cards as i know they have rags and 90% of the time they fold and 8% its a race if they call where im small dog, and 2 precent is when i missread and run into kings or queens.)

more to come. Add your own if you want.

Re: Learning From My Mistakes

thanks for filling us in there holly. I must admit i am aware of what you posted its just i started to forget the fundementals of the game. things i need to always remember. sometimes when your card dead you start to do crazy things. sometimes when your drunk you do the same crazy things. anyone who's new to the game though take note of what holly says.

thanks and welcome to TDP hollysport

Re: Learning From My Mistakes

I was out with my mother's sister the other week. She brought along her partially sighted male friend. As the night wore on and more and more drink was consumed things started to become a bit heated. I didnt like the way my mums sister was treating her and i told her this. Suddenly the table has went flying and im on the deck and theyre both kicking the shit out of me. moral of the story is......

watch out when the blinds and antes kick in

im sorry

Re: Learning From My Mistakes

online for sure abigail. I cant follow poker offfline. I like seeing what cards are mucked in a showdown and i can keep track of betting patterns. Physical tells i havent got used to either. Online i can go through each hand and take notes on players and get a better read on their game. I think it might just be due to my lack of offline play but i find online so much eeasier to win at. that said i have done very well in pub tournies winning 2 and being unlucky in another.
