Every Hand (to copy gus hansen!)
Hi Guys,
Won a smallish tournament on stars last night (I was bored at 4am after playing cash for 10hrs straight on other sites!). The interesting thing about this tournament was the fact the tables were all 4 handed making it very shorthanded the all time. Theres not much strategy written for heads up/shorthanded games as its a lot looser and more aggressive than full ring games so I thought it would be interesting to look at some hands from this. I have therefore tried one of these replayer sites to see if I could get a graphical animation of every hand in order, this is what I managed to come up with (I think pokerxfactor has a better one but you have to be a subscriber to use it). Hero (86 - Button) - Hand Import - 10-22-2008 - Poker Hand Replays For some reason that link misses out the 1st hand, it starts at hand 2 but hand 1 was inconsequential anyway. The link should play all the hands in order with my hole cards exposed. Sorry if this is an unwarranted brag post, its not meant to be honestly! The first prize was 1300 which was nothing to write home about really anyway, Im more interested in some of the hands. It was a 50 dollar buy in tourney with 124 runners. |

Re: Every Hand (to copy gus hansen!)
Hi Guys,
Yeah Doc. You will notice in the replay that in the early stages where the stacks are deep (which is the situation I am far more used to from cash games) That I do a lot more raising preflop with a wide range of hands in position. This is because there is a lot more play post flop and these hands play a lot better with the bigger implied odds I am giving myself. Later on when the stacks are shallow, particularly in the semi final and final I am using a slightly more unorthodox strategy of being less aggressive pre and doing a lot of limping on the button etc. This was basically so I would not get blown off hands in position by being reraised (then losing a decent chunk of my stack if that was to happen) and I could steal a lot of the pots with whatever trash I had limped with. Also my opponents were letting me get away with it . I also limped my strong hands as well at this time so as to try and not give anything away. I do hit a lot of cards later on, 4 sets in the semi final/final for one (although one does get cracked).Beanie, thanks for the congrats, I hope you enjoyed the replay mate, how is your poker going anyway? Re: Every Hand (to copy gus hansen!)
Not really been playing much to be honest Jez, or not as much as I'd like anyway. Taking some time out to sort a career once and for all(should be in the sports trading business) so only time for a few $20/$30 MTTs a week or so if I've got a spare night - few decent cashes but looking forward to getting back to playng far more heavily once I've got myself sorted and moved out of home(finally!) You can't live a rock 'n roll life with your ma bringing you toast and jam in the mornings!
Got my eye on taking part in an event or two at WSOP 2011 too
