A Year In Poker - My New Video - Help Req
Hello i'm due to release a poker video this Friday. Ive been thinking about it for a while as Poker Knowledge is 'common Knowledge' and is freely available for anyone to use. The 'fun' bits i will add. anyhow here's my notes. they will be a bit garbled and only 1/5th done. I will do them proper before i start it. the Video will be available in full from somewhere and be on Youtube in chapters. Anayhting you can add to help would be appreciated. I aint an expert but i have lots of info to share with anyone just picking up the game.
Quote:
get a baseball vap
videos of the crap plays against me.
some funky owboy music inbetween chapters (harmonica)
smoke influenced. other drugs too. Diff drugs dif episodes. Hoodie raver, jellied !, speeding ooot ma nut flush man, tripin and pulling at my faces, gas and glue,
make the sniffing of glue sublime and just natural.make the buzz hit me and then slowly let me come round.
kompfish's math's teacher - 'i actually accused him of cheating as he was such a good guesser. Iknew no good would have come to him and im pleased to see that he has proved me right.
video like the start of poker my way
eating cold soupdd from a tin
creating everlastong poker skills
the best way to lea
1. an introduction - ive been playing a year . downloaded loads of vids from pokerbay and im a little duisapointed not to see kompressaur in the top 10 leechers list. compliation of the best tips ive icked up. im no expert. when play $1 etc when im skint i see all these mistakes. All i can say is jjust dont do them. no if's or buts thats it. Dontr woprry about all that discipline bollocks just play to enjoy it and keep the stakes low. It shoul;dnt be aboiut the money when your starting. Its about beating the other 9 players in your sy
these videos will give you an edge on these players. there so many good books out there but still the bets way to learn is byy being out ther eplaying. Live action. bad beats and losing hands can teach you the quickest as you will memorise them. Playing well is no guarantee in winning. Playing poorly tho there is no need Be aware of your own poker weaknesses and you will improve.
the most impprtant thing to remember when watching these vids and taking in the info i share with you is that poker is a situational game..life.. itsa all about making the best decisions.
I hope to explain the basics of poker for you to develop your own style. these are just everalsting poker skils that
we aint gonna touch on limit poker as its like watching paint dryu to me but no doubtyt i am just misssing the maunces of the game
dont play for fun. play for something at least.
this all generaly applies to a fiull 9 or 10 man table. When things get shorthanded it all changes. See the section on this later .
ESSENTIALS
Play tight - as barry teanubaum describes when people go to play poker thats excattly what they do. they PLAY. The play poker. The beauty of poker is is that you can decide what hands that you want to play. Why not just play the good ones? just playing the good ones with a little bit of tips i'll gove you you'll start being a winning player. the problem is that your human and yopu'll start PLAYING again. QJ suited is not a good had for more reasons than i know
im kompressaur smith...im a tosser etc etc
1. basic concepts of the game - I wont tell you how to play the game. If you dont know then your a fud - owowowo gommy
PRE GAME STRATEGY - Go round to your dealer for a big lump of smoke. Pack the girlfriend in and give up the job. Plead insanity and get a sick line. Learn to play winning poker as you cant afford the price of cigarettes.
CLASSIFY PERSONLITIES - look for the rock,
2. basic strategy
PRE_ FLOP -
come in with a raise if your the first to the pot. You can win the pot there and then.
Starting hand selection and ranks etc - first of all remember Poker like life, is a situational game and there's nothign hard and fast about it. well there is but we'll go into that later. Starting out though you'd be as well platyin phil helmouths million dollar system
top 10 hands
AA, KK, QQ JJ,Ak AQ
it will always give you the edge. I repeat do no tplay any other hands unless your in late position and your trying to steal the pot. You can add suited connectors too it too but rememer thats a differant situation. Keep playing htese hands and dont think 'fcuk i just fancy playing a A10. Aye an A10 would be ok if your first into the pot and your in the in the last 5 seats. remember never just Call when entering a pot. Your entering a pot with these shittier hands to try and steal it there and then. If you get callers then your on ytour own lol Nah we will discuss that later i dont even know that bi myself yet.
MARGINAL PLAY HANDS
But komp we're bored of playing phil helmoutjhs top ten hands im such a stone that im gettin gmoss.
problem is is that the people at the level yourgo all -in with such shite hands that you yourself when your AQ is the best hand and youve folded it to a raise and then a re-raise and the players have both shown shit. this is a skill too. sussing out the minds of the shit players
SUITED CONNECTORS
From 56suited upwards. the prob with anything less is that if the flop is in your 'area' then its more than likely you'll be hittoing the lower end of the straights. Folks playing 78 suited for isntance really enjoy the cards you enjoy. theres a lot more too it but if you stick to that in general then you'll be ok. leave the smaller suited coinnecer to other folks. they just aint in your arsenal.
Try get in cheap with suited connectors and even sometimes even raise it up 3x when your in late. Force the action. dont forget if you dont flop a nice draw or some crazy middle card. Again situuational though. When late in a tournie suited connectors are almost worth jack shit. if your early in the bettin then i wouldnt even bther trying to see the flop cheap as everyobne is jst sitting htere waiting to throw in their best hand. You wont get in cheap. again if late though you could raise with them to steal the blinds. If someone calls you then your still in prett good shape. If he raises you all in then maybe its time to give it up. You tried and you failed. danial negranu loves his suited connectors and Sammy fara too. Devilfish david auuliot even likes his unsuited unconectors lol
Raising the blinds
The River
ON THE FLOP
dry flops
Protect your hand - Raise to find out where you are. Say you have JJ and the flop comes KQ5. Dont think 'ah shite my jacks are fcuked!' Put in a a bet to see where your at. Anything between a half pot and the pot. Hopefully the'yll fold but if not then try and suss out if
If you resise with your AK and you completely mis and all low cards hit and someoe is betting into you then its time to give up your hand. BEt into the pot if your forst to act and hopefully they havent hit and have to fold
BETTING PATTERNS
how your oppomnent bets when he has big hands and how he bets when he has small hands
make very sure your bets arent patterned themselves.
a lot of players bet half her pot when they are bluffing and the whole pot when they are not
Position
QJ in 1srt position, everyone fold s and i have AJ on the button im going to raise. position cghanges the value of hands and give you the op to act last
sited connectors play in an unrauied pot with multi way action
I rememeber once in a bet365 freeroll in October
come in with a raise if your the first to the pot. You can win the pot there and then.
position also dictates who bets forst. When you 'have position' on someone that means that you are getting to sdee what they do first. Playing texes holdem no limit out iof position is not much fun. Say you had AK unsuited. Your the first one in you raise 3x pre-flop. You get 2 callers. Now the flop come J85. Its you to go. Mr Tricky Bastard and Mr I call everything there to play after you. What you going to do? Its not nice is it? I think the best play would be to play a half pot sized bet into the pot and hope they fold. If they re-raise you then you fuked spo say good bywe. If they just call then your probably in even bigger shit than the re-raise but it's not telling you much. Maybe they have 10,9 and are lokg for athe straight. Times like these us noobs cruzify ourselves. Maybe
SEMI BLUFF - fortune favous the bold
If youve got a few outs on the turn then you can raise or re-raise folks bets as they could well fold it there an d then and if they dont then youve got a nicer pot if you hit. If you dont get anything to help you
BLUFFING - a bit of adverising aint bad but tell them nothing. Dont show your bluffs. try and get caught making a small bluff. Bluffs in themesleves might not make you money but any future equity of folks calling your bets when you have a hand that you can win more than oyur money back then.
You first of all need to understand your oppent. there is no point in bluffing someone when ythey dont know that hey are supposed to fold. Its actually easier to bluff a good player than a poor player. A poor player is only really thinking about their own hand in the context of the game. theyu dont see scare cardswhen they hit and scare cards are good times to bluff. They dont know what your bet is supposed to mean.I wont give you an example as i cant be bothered. Bah say the board is Jh 10h3s and mr shit player has KJ. He bets and you call. Then comes 6H on the river he bets, you raise he calls as he doesnt see the heart hurting him as all he sees is that he has top pair. He could even still call you if another Heart come. hard people to bluff but only as their so dim.
bluf call. oppent has raised befor eht flop and the flop has vome pretty shite all in. 962 all diff suits. The pre-flop raise from your opponent suggests that he has a pretty good hand, any pair or a couple of big cards. When they bet out (bet at he flop) as most good players would after they have taken the lead in the hand with the raise then just call no matter if you hit the board or not on the flop. Its very scary when someone just calls your bet when you have in position. If they come at you again on the turn then they very well might have mad etheir hand. More than likely they will check so its time for you to make a half pot bet and take the pot. If he calls you then i dont kow wtf he has
always take your oppoents stack size into account before trying to bluff them. If they already have half their chips in the pot then they are more than likely to call your bluff even if they think they have a beaten hand.
How much should you be reraising to bluff effectivbely? Befor eht eflop re-raise about the size of the pot. If your oppoents hand is marginal thenm its gonna be hard for them to call. if you raise too little you could be well giving your oppeonent a mathica good price
sothey need to be-Somepone who is vcapable of folding. Have you seen them fold hands in big posts to people?
- have enough money to fold
-raise enough not to give yout oponent an attractive priice to call
players will react to a half sized pot bet as they would a full pot bet. ob better to only put less chips at risk. Also if people have very big hands, they half pot bet to suck folks in. It makes your betting patterns hard to predict. HAlf sie bet for bluffs and big hands make this
pot sized bets can be thought of as bluffs so sometimes when youve got a huge hand you an make it look like a bluff by btting the pot.
Infact i would take bluffing right out your armory almost playiung in these $1 and less stt's. think more about TRAPPING them in hands.
TRAPS
TILT - 75% of people tend to go on tilt when they experiace a bad beat. think of poker in the long term not the short term. Folks get lucky and so do you. When it happens a few times in a row it will send ytou steaming LOW LIMIT POKER - Your bigger hands are gonna get bust more with folks hanging on for that inside staright . Almost impossible to bluff as folks call to the end. f you dont make a hand dont bet.
MONEY MAMAGEMENT - dont worry about it just enjoy ourself. play in games u can afford. If you drink too much then what you have to do is to win enough when you are sober to pay forthem drunken crazy nights when you start 'experimentin'. Play fresh. Actually play any timeyou want and i find it hard to be fresh. You play better when fresh though. Fresh from having a big smoke.
CHANGING GEARS
Betting Strategy
Reading The Board
ALL-IN
Im seeing it day in day out. Dont go all in with Dominated hands. Never ever call an all in in a full handed tables with KQ, KJ, AJ, A10 and lower. Short handed thats a
66-22, KQ, Ax suited, never call re-raises with these hands and if someone who only raises with the hands mentioned in the top 10 hands. I wouldnt call more than 3x with these hands unless there is already a lot of poeple in the pot as when these hands it you can win a lot of money on them. Aside from the KQ qhich is the shittiest hand that you can play and you must really tread cautiously with that on. It'susually best just to throw it away especially if your in early position. Dont forget the Ax suited is there for the nut flush. Dont dare lose any chips playing it as a pair of Aces when the board hits especially if theres a few in. Your kicker is shit and your A6 of clubs gets beat by anyone holding A7-AK. thats 7 hands that beats you not counting AA and someone on a fullhanded table will have an Ace with a better kicker than you no doubt. even sad cnuts who play AJ unsuited. AJunsuited is not a hand to play (god why do so many people cxall all -ins with this hand?) As aagin people will be all-in with AQ, AK and AA. Your a right dog in these situations an come on what you think they are all in with? So never call All in's with anything below AQs.
leades us to DOMINATED HANDS and THE GAP CONCEPT
GAP - You need a better hand to call a raise with than to make a raise. I would raise with AJ if i was the first to enter a pot and i was in mid-late postition bt if someone raised before me and he wasnt a jackal type who raies everything i would fold my AJ. I wouldnt play any of these hands v a mouse I would raise with Ax suited again in late position but i would fold it if there was a raise to me. If the pot was really big though and i wa
SMALL PAIRS - The thing i like about small pairs is that if you dont flop your set on the flop you can generally just fold. Its all situational but again thats the general rule. However if there was only a couiple of folks in the pot i might try a pot sized bet on the flop if no one has bet to see if i can steal it there and then. If im
If i flop a set..ba i aint flopped a set for weeks.
lopping 2 pair
raising does a lot of things 1) to protect your hand 2) eliminate players,3) indcreases the size of the pot, 4)lest apponents rte-raise
KBG- I found some old books written by the KGB interogators. They showed me how to read people and also how to torture them
SLOW PLAYING
POT ODDS
THE TURN
3. advanced strategy
STT Strategy
Good for practing your final tble play for bigger tournaments, youll get to play 9handed 8 handed 7 all they way down to heads up. It will all stand you in good experience. Just poplaying phils top 10 hands can take you all the way to the money. Add a few more tricks and you'll be solid at this level. start off slow. LKet them all go on like madiers
4. Tournement play - tourmament strategy is differant from Cash table statgegy. We are onl gonna discuss tournamen strategy here as its all i play. However i think cash game stategy is similar to how you should be playing in a tournie when the blinds go up and your after stealing the blinds etc. Late in tournies position becomes extremely imoprtant. You can start raising with KJ in late positions but fold these cards in early position.
try to avoid fear
5. Tells
6. Blinds - raise it up bro! last 4 blinds 100/200.
TOUGH CALLLS
ONLINE
Use the HISTORY Button
Speed people bet. raise any etc
When someone syas NH they dont mean it so dont say thanks. you shouldnt have called that big re-raise with your KQ and you winning with it is only gonna make you worse
Choosing a name
Be a bird
we wont talk about colusion as i have no odea what it is. I am a loner and have no one to colude with
Tips-
Beware of pairs on the board when flushing.

I don't know if this link will work - if not you'll have to go to pokerbay and find it, Howard Lederer Complete Set DVD.
thePokerBay.org - Treasures for cardplaying pirates :: Login
it's great dvd for beginners and intermediate players, it will teach you solid pre-flop strategy and explain the game on later streets - while komp's video's are not available yet it's something to start with .GIF)

Aye that Howard Lederer DVD is good Kris especially disk 2 (edit:well it would be ) and thats exactlly the sort of thing i want to reproduce. No offence to Howard but he aint telling us anything new. Its all just good info and we're all allowed to reproduce it legally. I aint camera shy but im shit in front of the camera. Maybe my new teeth will help me. Ive been thinking about how to put the cards and other graphics on the screen but i dont know how to do it yet but i'll have to. all help appreciated folks.
Aye ive caned Pokerbay Kris. Got it all there just needing deconstructed and put back to gether again in our way. I'd love it and i mean love it if 2 or 3 (or more of us) could do it and do it proper and go from being just great on youtube to having a book out.
