Re: New player where to start?
Honest a monkey could win a stt alex. i love the way 'proper' poker players refer to stt grinders as having a 'pathetic life' lol It is NOT poker but the basic rules are the same and there's ICM for anyone to know.

Re: New player where to start?
Im a MTT player and im glad to admit that. I hone my skills in winning big tournies and im starting to do ok. alll i need to do is remove the fear or start to not care as i KNOW ive doen the right thing every time its asked of me. I folded kings on a jack high flop in another thread but heres another latest one that keeps me in the game. the fella had NEVER limped early position in 104 hands. I still say a lesser man would have went bust with it.
![]() I told hom i was folding AJ as im so tight and he showed me AK. I went on to finish forth but if i had done what dickheads had done i would have been sent home that hand. |

Re: New player where to start?
funny enough if he had bet pre flop it i would have check raised on the flop and have been all in hoping he had JJ or similar and he'd have had my stack. No need for slow playing in mtts from early position in small limit mtt's. i wouldnt slow play nothing as soon as the bb was 200 chips +

Re: New player where to start?
suppose it wasnt that clever on my part but you can see where other less thinking players could have went bust. Pre flop - no (maybe) on the flop? for sure. what else are we waiting on. rule of thumb i use is if i dont think im sure i wait for a sure moment. dont play other peoples hands.

Re: New player where to start?
just try play any of the many freerolls out there or at micro stake sit n go's, if you play cash, opt for a low stake game, build up your experience before moving on. if you do play online fairly regularly its also probably worth signing up for rake back, many deals found at Rakeback.com, at least that way you won't be throwing away your own money for nothing and even if you lose, you will get a percentage of your own money back, some offer as high as 40% RB and 1K sign up bonuses. Check out Dan Harrington's books, great read, especially helpful for less experienced players, tons of great advice. Hope this helps..
