PODS Championship: American Golf

Just to let you know this tournament was played last year in October so conditions will probably be a bit different if your looking for course form. In saying that , it was a fairly warm October weekend so its not gonna make much difference.

Sergio Garcia to be top European @11/8: Gonna have quite a big bet on this as I quite fancy Sergios chances here. The opposition for Top European are: Gronberg, Davis, Johnson, Langer, Parnevik, Chopra and Petterson. Not a particularly daunting list(apart from my man Chopra!). The main opposition coming from the last 2 on that list but I reckon Sergio can fend them off. Hes played 1 tournament in the USA this year and finished in 6th.

Vijay Singh @11/1: Think this is the week that the tournament favourite could get back to winning ways. 11/1 may be a bit short for some but he won this tournament in 2004, had a top 20 last year and he hasn't missed a cut so far this year. Admittedly his form has tailed off since he took victory in the years opening tournament but there were signs in February that he was coming back to his best with a 7th and an 11th place finish.

Daniel Chopra @66/1: Picked Danny boy last week and he nearly done me proud with a 7th place finish. He was in contention here last year until a terrible 76 in the final round ruined his chances and he eventually finished 44th. He's a pretty consistent performer with 9 top 25 finishes from 33 events last year. I'll chance him again this weekend.

Verdict:
100 Points: Garcia to be top European @11/8
20 Points E/W on Singh @11/1 (1/4 top 5)
7 Points E.W on Chopra @66/1
2.00 E/W on Shaun Micheel @80/1
1.00 E/W on John Daly @200/1

Not a bad start for my boys. Apart from Daly their all under par and still in contention. Bit disappointed Vijay couldn't birdie any of the back 9 but at -1 hes still in with a shout. The leader is Cliff Kreqe on -6, never heard of him to be honest. Luckily for the field he bogeyed his last 2 holes so he's not too far ahead of the chasing pack.

Daniel Chopra continued his recent good form with a 67 and that leaves him in second place on -4. Garcia lies on -1 and has 2 Europeans ahead of him so far. Chopra and Parnevik. Hopefully Parneviks habit of fading badly in the final couple of rounds continues. Daly is on +3 and is in danger of missing the cut.

Re: PODS Championship: American Golf

Bad 3rd day for the selections. Stinking round of 74 from Garcia yesterday means my main bet is looking like a loser. Hes currently the 3rd bets placed European and is 4 behind Chopra. Needs a good round today.

Vijay never really got going all week and is way off the pace on -1. Daly withdrew from the tournament after a poor opening round, not like him!
