Re: Khan v Kindelan - free money surely???
You could be tempting me Keema
. Haven't followed much boxing really, it just seems a wee bit flat lately. Anyway, I'll add what information that I have found. Both boxers should soon be quitting the amatuer ranks to go professional. In addition to this fight there should be a re-match in Cuba around July. This is billed as a grudge match after Khan's Olympic final defeat at the hands of Kindelan. All funds raised for the fight will be donated to charity. My first instinct was that this fight doesn't mean anything. Therefore it wouldn't be hard to see Khan winning in Britain and Kindelan winning his home bout in Cuba. Although I'm not so sure now after reading some of these comments on the BBC.... Kindelan Quotes: "Khan should stay amateur. He does not have a good chin and he does not punch hard," "He's not as good as British people think. He doesn't have the style to be a top professional." Khan Quotes: "I'm confident I'm going to beat Mario Kindelan this time. If I do lose then I've learned something," "He's never hurt me. His timing is perfect but he is not a big puncher. He is fairly fast but he is not powerful." "When I saw him in the last Cuba fight, he wasn't as fast as he was in the Olympics." "He is using his body more than his legs. His hands were low and he was fighting lazy." "I remember in out first fight Mario tended to get in close and hold me in a clinch. I could have melted in his manly embrace, it was as if time stood still and my heart was in my mouth. I can't wait to feel his touch again." Sounds like fighting talk, well maybe not the last one. Should be an interesting fight, anyone know if it's on Sky? Last edited by daikoku : 13-05-2005 at 15:35. |

Re: Khan v Kindelan - free money surely???
I remember reading a few opinions in the run up to the Olympic final that went along the lines of Kindelan IS one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world and if he had ever turned pro would no doubt have been or would still be a world champion several times over.
Khan COULD BE a good fighter, he did very well to get to the final of the Olympics (over achieved?) but the important words are "could be" as he still has a long way to go. You basically have a very decent prospect, with a lot of media interest in him versus the best, or one of the best, fighters in the world at this weight category. I don't follow boxing odds that much but if everything was well I would have expected Kindelan to be something like 1/6. Where is the 4/7 about Keema? |

Re: Khan v Kindelan - free money surely???
I know bugger all about this bashing game but without wanting to sound unpatriotic I always look to see if a decent price is on offer on the foreigner when a Brit is involved Bookies are always looking to take the land of hope and glory money at silly prices.
I am speaking from memory but I think the Cuban was a much shorter price at the Olympics. I don't think much will have changed to increase Khans chances. Could be good value here albeit odds on- but I guess its a two horse race anyway |

Re: Khan v Kindelan - free money surely???
I've always loved boxing. The only chance Khan has is the 'home advantage' card.
Personally I reckon the Cuban will be up for this fight (as his swansong) , irritated by Khan's hysterical following and whoop him accordingly. Anything around 1/2 on Kindelan is HUGE in my opinion. |

Re: Khan v Kindelan - free money surely???
(To quote myself from another forum..)
Regarding Khan vs Kindelan...Could there be a possible conspiracy theory concerning this fight? Kindelan p*ssed all over Khan in the Olympic Final and on that form alone should easily beat him.. However.. Why would Khan pick a fight that he is supposedly unlikely to win, as a primetime - terresteral fight to raise his national profile and his potential financial future going forward..He needs his profile as positive as possible as he embarks on a professional career in the near future. How is a defeat going to help him..? Lets also consider ITV Sport in this..They've wanted to get back into boxing to the level they used to command when Benn, Eubank and Ahmed were on their TV card way back in the early mid nineties. A defeat on their big - primetime tv slot will be a bit of an embarrassment for them..Let's remember they are commiting a hell of a lot by screening a boxing fight on Saturday night!! Also..when have Cuban boxers been involved in a televison primetime circus fight..In fact when have they ever been involved in non-olympic/world heavyweight fights?? Has anyone considered the possibility that someone has approched the now-retired cuban fighter's management team or Cuban government and implied that (for a financial award) their now retired fighter with a big reputation can put up a good fight but ensure he doesnt win..Obviously some huge financial backhander may be forthcoming.. Ok these are just mythoughts that may well turn out to be total b*llocks but that 3.00 with Bet365 looks mighty tempting.. |

Re: Khan v Kindelan - free money surely???
Oooooo the plot thickens. Interesting point indeed. Every sport has it's corruption, boxing is probably more well known for it that most.
I was almost talked into Kindelan but I think you may have put me off. |
