Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Nothing tickles my fancy today...anyone else?
The two early games are Fed v Gonzo and Hewitt v Lopez.
Handicap of +7.5 for Gonzalez almost tempted me, as he should compete in every set, but if Federer takes the first two then there's always the chance he can crush Gonzalez in the third, 6-1 or 6-2 or something.
Hewitt -2.5 is tempting too, as I think Lopez's run has been hyped up a little too much. Safin was not on top form against him, and Ancic certainly wasn't either. I'm almost tempted for Hewitt to win by atleast two sets, aslong he serves consistently well to add to his superb returning power. As someone on the beeb just said...maybe Lopez is satisfied, while Hewitt is a big match player.
Hmmm...aye ok then...
Hewitt -2.5 v Lopez

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
I didnt fancy nothing either Beanie so put a little set betting on. £2 on Federer 3-1, Hewitt 3-1, Roddick 3-1 and Johansson 3-2. Returns just under £1000. Total long shot but its something to keep me occupied for now.
Do you know any bookies that have outright bets on the mens doubles by any chance? Really fancy them unseeded pair to do the business. They have already knocked out 3 seeded teams and look a solid outfit.

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Is that Huss and Moody your talking about? They did look really strong yesterday.
As for a bookie, I have no idea. I heard Royal Bet mentioned as having doubles odds, but their site is down just now. I wouldnt be able to vouch for their reliability either.
Betfair will have match odds up for the semis and final, so you could back them in both, and some bookies might stick odds up just for the final.

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Yeah them two - ive seen their last two games and they are the perfect foil for each other. Can see them rising to the top in the doubles rankings.
It looks like im going to have to do match betting, but i wouldve prefered outright as i would imagine them to be quite juicy odds still to win it. Will keep having a look around.
Hewitts been pretty impressive just now - Lopez has tried everything and just keeps running into a brick wall.

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Gonzalez lost overall by seven games, just inside the handicap, but really should have taken a set, and looked useful in patches.
Yeah, Hewitt made Lopez work so hard for his points, and ground out a straight sets win. That first point of the tie-break just encapsulated the whole match, with Lopez putting everything into his shots, backing Lleyton into a corner, and the Aussie just coming up with that little bit extra bit of class.
I think Grosjean +7 could be a decent call, but I'll leave the other matches alone for the rest of today. Really hope that dick Nalbandian goes out as well

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Yeah ive never liked Nalbandian - never worked out what it was about him.
The players been sent back in again for the 2nd time due to the rain. Be interesting if we get any action for the next hour or so. Whats the odds of Grossjean +7.5?
I dont see Roddick running away with the sets at all. Can see it going to the tie break most sets, might be interested in it.

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Its the way he conducts himself in interviews for me - mumbling, monotone voice, short sharp answers to all the questions, and basically comes across as dull and unsociable. Cant stand his pointy face and really hope Tojo cuffs him, but I'm steering clear of the betting as I might be a little biased :loon
Odds for +7 were 1.90 at Bet365, but they've been removed now, although they still have their in running betting(no odds as yet.)
If there are no handicaps available, I suppost that might translate into an over X amount of games bet, especially if Grosjean can take a couple of sets to tiebreaks, or even snatch a set. 1.80 at over 37.5 on Betfair.

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Grosjean takes first set 6-3...that handicap bet would have been just about in the bag already...
Now we see what Roddick's really made of, but we might have a five setter in the offing

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Just got on Grosjean at 3s with Betfair. Ridiculous price that is for someone who is 1-0 up!

Odds for set betting are...
3-0 8.4
3-1 7
3-2 7
Some silly odds going around. Im on hoping to lay off later on or maybe it can hold out!

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
Typical - as soon as i get on it his form completely nose dives and he starts rushing into all his shots.

Re: Wimbledon Mens Quarter Finals
You get a bit excited there thegerman?
I've got 3-2 either way, so thats all done and dusted here, but if youve still got Grosjean 3-2 Kiko, lets hope the Frenchie takes it.
