I was hoping Carlos Moya might have been a bit luckier with the draw.
He's been playing some good tennis and looks to have tamed the trouser snake that I suspect led him astray last season.
Problem for him, imo, is that he's playing back-to-back weekends now and must be nearing his threshold but the odds probably won't be good enough for the lay here.

Lots of these guys and gals still haven't shown much this season and I guess there might be tough matches for Monfils, Grosjean, To-Jo and even Nalbandian while home boy Peter Luczak might be worth keeping an eye on in the early rounds, at least.

Kim Clijsters is a girl who looks to retirement from tennis and one who increasingly loses interest and focus in what she's doing on court.
However, she came from a set down to beat much improved Jankovic this morning and a huge result given the Serbian's recent form.
It may be Kim has some impetus in knowing that HH won't be in Melbourne, (the one girl who'll beat her every time), and could be the factor that takes her to the final and straight through Sharapova .
That would be nice.

i picked clijsters to win the aussy open a couple of weeks back @ 8/1 with bf now shes come into 6s i think. also i have a new year special bet for murray to reach a grand slam final in 2007 so lets hope he does and i can claim my money

Kim didn't impress me one bit too be honest.

The number of unforced errors she made was a complete joke and she was fortunate here. Jankovic started losing her cool at crucial calls agains her(a couple which were wrong too) and she just blew it. Bit of a level head there and she would've comfortably won the game.

There is no outright on form player in thewomens tennis scene at the minute and this is very open.

Be interesting to see how Mauresmo is playing after her shoulder injury to the tail end of last season.

Im going to go with two long shot bets of two players who have impressed m when i seen them the last couple of weeks.

Mens side will be interesting.

Federer is Federer but you will never be seeing me back 1.44 shots pre tournament.

He got beat in the final today by Roddick 2-1. Roddick played very well and this wil give him an immense amount of confidence as he has always failed to beat him in the past, blowing several MPs last time around.

Blake i like a lot. He has just won one of the finals against Moya. He was cruising and did his usual where he loses concentration and lets the player back in. He wasplaying brilliantly for the best part of the game and i love watching him play.

He will cause anyone problems and will be my only outright bet thus far.

Couple of odds I don't understand:

Djokovic @ 80s...Murray @ 26s.

The main point here I suppose is that Djokovic has to play Fed earlier(and therefore there is a smaller chance of someone else taking him out before hand) but the likelihood is that either will have to beat the Swiss in order to win this tournament.

In terms of their abilities, Murray is young, athletic, in good form, with a proen record against higher ranking opponents, with a decent all round game, and that gives him a legitimate outside shot.

Djokovic has all that, plus he's fitter and less injury prone than Murray.

I don't understand the big difference there at all, but thats all really just to illustrate that Djokovic is bigger than he should be. Im on at 80s.

I've bought X-Courts @ 78 in the Nadal v Kohlschreiber match. Nadal is struggling a bit, while Kohlschreiber is a useful players, capable of pushing Nadal in this one.

For those (most of you) who don't know this bet, the following example should demonstrate.

Match finishes 6-4 4-6 7-6 6-3

Make up = (6*4) + (4*6) + (7*6) + (6*3) = 108

I see, so what you are looking for is a close game where the bookie thinks it will not be close. I guess what they are saying is they think it will be straight sets for Nadal at something like 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. Your basically banking on Kohlscheiber taking a set in the most part I guess.
