Christmas No.1

This bet requires a slight degree of patience as it won't pay out til Christmas time.

Chief reckons a bet on Take That to be Christmas No.1(With X-Factor Winner exclued from thebetting) is a cracking bet @4/1. Theres a big buzz at the moment about their new album and the first single off it, Patience, is released in 2 weeks will almost definitely go straight in at No.1. Now apparently the single is getting great reviews which means there will be a momentum building and Take That will once more be all the rage come Yuletide.

The main opposition will be Westlife but as they're releasing an album of covers(Yawn) hopefully the public will go all nostalgic and lap up Take That Christmas ballad.

Recommended Bet: Take That to be Christmas No.1 @4/1 (Betting without X Factor Winner)

Re: Christmas No.1

Hey Chief.

Good to see this again. A lot of interest in it last year. Haven't had a look yet as i keep thinking christmas is longer away than it really is.

Not sure about this whole chart formats too and how it works now with the download stuff.

Released in 2 weeks - that means it has to stay at number 1 for over 6 weeks? Not a bit of a push that?

Hey ya Kiko, sorry buddy my post was a bit confusing alright. No as far as I can make out Take That release their first single in 2 weeks then the new album a week or two after and then their Christmas single a week or so before Christmas.

So basically they'll be releasing 2 singles and an album before the end of the year. Hoping the new singles well received so it'll give their Christmas single a great chance to hit the top.(Excluding X Factor Winner)

Today's Bettingzone Market Moves:

1400: Sticking with the novelty markets and Hills have slashed the price of Cliff Richard and Daniel O'Donnell gaining the coveted Christmas number one spot from 14/1 to 8/1 as punters pile in on the duo to see off the hitherto unbeatable X Factor.

"There is no doubt that Cliff Richard and Daniel O'Donnell have huge fan bases and combined they are major contenders for a festive hit - but even they will struggle to beat the X Factor winner which is out 1/3 favourite," said Adams.

What odds others? What if bloody Borat rushes out a Christmas single and video: It Make Snow in Kazakhstan Tonight.

Could happen.

Today's Bettingzone Market Update:

1115: Hills have closed the book on which Album will be number 1 this weekend having been inundated with bets on Westlife.

Oasis started as the 1/12 favourites to win and drifted out to 8/1 while Westlife opened at 6/1 and finished at 1/20 favourites!

"We could not have got this more wrong and have been whopped by Westlife. Oasis is a dirty word in our office," said Hills spokesman Rupert Adams.

Oasis, however, are clear favourites to have the Christmas Number 1 album.

William Hill Christmas Number 1 Album: 7/4 Oasis, 3/1 Beatles, 4/1 Westlife, 8/1 U2, 12/1 Scissor Sisters, 16/1 Cliff Richard & Friends, 20/1 Il Divo.

William Hill Christmas Number 1 Single: 2/7 Winner Of X Factor, 8/1 Cliff Richard & Daniel O'Donnell, 8/1 All Angels, 10/1 Take That, 14/1 Angelis, 16/1 El Chombo, 16/1 Ricky Tomlinson, 16/1 Katie Price & Peter Andre, 20/1 Lazy Town, 20/1 Girls Aloud, 20/1 Cliff Richard & Brian May.

===============

When the fook did they have a Christmas Number One Album market!?

Borat is available at 20/1 with William Hill, I'm very tempted.

Re: Christmas No.1

Hmmm. Big swing in the Christmas Number One Album market over at William Hill:

Take That 6/4
Oasis 3/1
Il Divo 5/1
Westlife 8/1
The Beatles 8/1
Girls Aloud 8/1
U2 12/1
Scissor Sisters 20/1
Snow Patrol 20/1
Cliff Richard & Friends 33/1
Fron Male Voice Choir 33/1

Well Westlife go from 1/20 to 8/1!? WAH!? I expect some sort of a coup from the industry insiders despite Take That's resurgence.

Unless I've misunderstood something in your earlier posts, Stereoman, that 1/20 for Westlife was for them to have the number 1 album that coming weekend (from when you posted on 24/11/06), but they were 4/1 to have the Xmas No. 1 album.
