Re: Wimbledon Monday

A few for today....mostly mens:

Rusedski - Easy one really. Rusedski on the slide and not in good form, but Martin is a clay court player with very poor Wimbledon record, and the Briton should see him off with no problems.

Mayer - No brainer this one. Ventura is pretty hopeless on grass, going out at Queens to Andrew Murray and in Nottingham to Berdych, both in first round. Up against a young German who made the quarters of Wimbledon last year.

Zib - Both prefer clay, but Zib has atleast been trying out the grass in the past two weeks, whereas Acasuso, who it has to be noted has had a good season, avoids it like the plague. Acasuso to repeat his first round exit at SW19 for me.

5pts Treble @ 1.71 @ Skybet

Beck - Difficult match to read, but could be value here. Beck was unlucky to run up against in form players Roddick and Rochus in last two weeks, but will fancy his chances v Philipoussis. Scud's fitness is still a big question mark, and aslong as Beck doesn't succumb in straight sets, that could be a telling factor.

2pts @ 2.10 @ William Hill

Baghdatis - V tough game for the Cypriot, but is up against Youzhny who is on the slide, and in terrible form this year. Odds show a little value.

1pt @ 2.75 @ Skybet

Sherwood - Sherwood is not a particularly good player, but is solid and will be cheered on by home support. Up against Ricardo Mello, who after a good start to the year is fading badly, and is hopeless on grass. Out in straight sets in the first round to Vacek in Nottingham winning only 3 games tells its own story.

2pts @ 2.25 @ Ladbrokes

Kim - Bogdanovic is another fairly useless Brit who will be trying to make it 4 first round exits in a row, and he looks in good shape to do just that.

3pts @ 1.67 @ Sporting Odds

Baltacha - Always plays well at Wimbledon, and is up against Klaschka, who has never won at SW19, and who will be up against the crowd as well. Worth a pop.

2pts @ 1.58 @ Betfair

Re: Wimbledon Monday

Bit of a speculative Accum for me for the mens first round -

GROSJEAN / FERRERO / MIRNYI / SAFIN @ 2.92 (VC)

Any1 looking for a nice little interest accumulator for players who are good favourites to win should look no further

A rare womens double for me and I think this is a very good bet -

JANKOVIC / SPREM @ 3.05 (Sporting odds)

Both are quality womens players compared to their opponents. Sporting Odds go best prices for both these two, take advantage

Both 5 pts

Re: Wimbledon Monday

While the answer to that would be a resounding NO, who could count him out against seeded Lopez in the 2nd round after today. Normally Lopez would take him to the cleaners, but the Spaniard was pushed to 5 long sets by Phau today, while Sherwood breezed through his match.

Baltacha was very poor, but to be fair was up against Klaschka who was surprisingly good. Fair cop on that one.

What to say about Philippousis/Beck, other than I'll not be betting against the big Aussie again for a long time. Beck is playing well, but Philipoussis has been awesome, with Beck winning about 3 points against the serve in the last two sets. Might be bad news in store for Safin

Kim took his time to get going v Bogdanovic, but a strightforward win in the end.

Baghdatis didn't really trouble Youzhny, but I still think it will be worth opposing the Morrocan when he faces stiffer opposition.

In the treble, Rusedski and Zib were safe winners, and Mayer has just served out v Ventura for a straight sets victory.

All in all, a slow but profitable start.

Nice Acca there MrM...should be in good shape for tomorrow.

Unlucky on the double though - Sprem's poor performance was a bit of a surprise :think

Re: Wimbledon Monday

Yeah Sprem totally bottled it mate, nothing like her seed beating performances of last year. Thats the womens game for ya though they go all mentally weak at the sight of a strawberry. I always do small stake even if I really like a womens tennis bet for that reason.

Over to Grosjean and Mirnyi for the 4 fold tomorrow
