Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Heres my thoughts on this weekends games:ffice
ffice" />Limerick v Offaly: Fancy Offaly but home advantage could swing it to Limerick. No Bet. Antrim v Carlow: Fancy an Antrim win but odds of 1/7 on PP are ridiculous therefore have to look at handicaps. Realistically two poor teams but Antrim should win but would say there would be no more than 3/4 points in it. Prob best to go with Carlow +7 at 8/13. Wouldn't trust either side though. Down v Leitrim: Although Down got out of Ennis by skin of their teeth in last round, should easily see off Leitrim who were awful against Roscommon in last round also. Again straight win a ridiculous 1/33 on PP however available at 1.07 on Betfair. Although should be a home win, Down havent matched last years impressive performances and can't see them covering 10 point handicap. Therefore taking Leitrim +10 at 5/6. London v Waterford: London were value bet of year so far last time around and bookies arent taking chances this time by making them favs. Home advantage plus momentum should see a London victory but Waterford arent as bad as people think. Unfortunate to have drawn Cork in first round of Munster. Fancy exiles to win and only 2 point handicap available on PP so giving this game a miss. Armagh v Wicklow: Easy home win. If this game was in Aughrim then it'd be difficult to call but Armagh should progress. Jamie Clarke is one of best forwards in country on his day while Stevie McDonnell still doing the business. Armagh are strong throughout pitch even though Derry beat them handy enough i feel they should beat Wicklow. Visitors have some star players especially Leighton Glynn and their manager is one of cutest whures ever to put on a bib so theyll travel with confidence but thnk theyll fall short. Taking Armagh -2 at 1/3. Laois v Kildare: Should be one of best games of day. Laois have plenty of quality while Kildare were robbed of a draw against Dublin by a disgraceful referring decision. Had preview of Laois v Kildare, Longford v Tyrone and Galway v Meath typed but fucking lost it! Not typing it again so going Kildare -1 @ 4/7, Tyrone -1 @ 4/9 and leaving Meath and Galway. Galway v Cork - Can't call it so giving it a miss. Limerick v Antrim: Antrim going well with good wins over Carlow and Westmeath however Limerick is a step up. Limerick should have beaten Waterford but for a last minute goal and they beat Wexford easy enough. However don't think they will cover a 16 point handicap so taking Antrim +16 @ 1/4. Dublin v Wexford: Jason Ryans wexford are form team in country at moment racking up impressive scores however Dubs at Croker is a big step up from Carlow etc. Dubs were gifted last weeks game by terrible decision by ref and will not get it all their own way but still see them pulling through as two Brogans are class acts. Dublin -3 @1/2. Tipperary v Waterford: All Ireland champs should lift Munster title on Sunday however think it'll be closer than 10pt handicap. Waterford were lucky to beat a gallant Limerick side and Tipp are def the better side but a Munster final should be a battle from start to finish and can't see Tipp walking it by 10 or more points so taking Waterford +10 @ 4/11. Went a bit on safe side with few of handicaps but going with following accum with Paddy Power: Waterford +10 @ 4/11 Antrim +16 @ 1/4 Dublin -3 @ 1/2 Armagh -2 @ 1/3 Tyrone -1 @ 4/9 Kildare -1 @ 4/7 Carlow +7 @ 8/13 Leitrim +10 @ 5/6 |

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Good write up Inish, Nice to see some discussion this week :-) I think there was 120 visits last week before the site shut down but not a single reply :-(
Aye the hadicap betting is the only way to make a few quid at the GAA. Interesting to see that both Gallimh and Inish have avoided commenting on the Galway v Cork in the hurling, a tricky one to call alright but I will post up my own review on all the games in the morning. I cannot but agree with Tipp in the hurling and I also fear that if the Tipp forwards cut loose on that Waterford backline, it will be a riot. I would have posted up something last night but the site seemed to be shut down again, I think Christian shuts it down when he goes to bed, just in case Komp posts some filth while he is away ![]() anyway more on the games later..... |

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Whats craic Suir. Enjoy this site, so good to see a bit of GAA discussed alrite. Can't see who's gonna win that Galway & Cork game so didn't bother commenting! Hopeful on that wee accum but usually use Betfair so gonna go big on few singles tomorrow. Down to beat Leitrim in early game and don't know whether to go with Limerick in Hurling or Armagh footballers tomorrow night.
Plan same with Dublin and Tipp on Sunday. By way good reviews from Kevin Egan from Irish Star here: 2nd Round of All Ireland Qualifiers takes place|StarBets.ie and 2nd Round of All Ireland Qualifiers takes place|StarBets.ie Good luck! |

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Hello there Inish, well the best review of all is when you see the games yourself if you know a bit about it and punting, together you will see whats what. I'm far more of a hurling man but I do follow the football also. Sometimes you read one of these reviews and it turns you around completely from your original plan, I read the reviews on the Hogan Stand and the RTE web site previews, the RTE verdict on the outcome is usually trash. The Goalpost in the racing post has too much info, two articles could be written up on the same game, with two different verdicts! The Irish Examiner is normally a good informative read also on the games down here in the south. I will check out the Star as you say and see what he says. Thanks.
Before I read it though, I do agree with your Leitrim +10, as I thought that myself, Down huffed and puffed to get past a poor Clare team. I fancy Cork in the hurling, saw them in Walsh Park in the league when Waterford beat them with a experimental team, awful against Dublin, scored only a meagre 2-07 while conceding 19 points. They easily beat Clare, but Clare had a paper defence and 14 men for the second half and still managed 20 points. Cork are being slated for making heavy weather of beating Offaly, Cork had only 14 men for most of that game and had been caught napping after thrashing Laois the previous week. Cork are well organised, they are a big step up compared to Clare for Galway, I like Cork +1 @ 21/20 with Boylesports. I will post my other views in the morning, I have not placed my bets yet. |

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Inish, I have read the reviews from the links to the Star, in one word 'Bollox' I am always a little doubtful of an foreign newspaper writing on our games anyway. This young lad although Irish has to lose alot more money before he gets sense. The beauty of betting on GAA games that it is basically a 3 horse race, Home win, Draw & Away win. Take the Galway v Cork game and you back Cork on the handicap, now 2 of the 3 horses are yours. Look at what he says about the Laois v Kildare game, he says to back Kildare to win both halves, oh yes why not, throw a few more horses into the race, why not just give the Bookie the money and not bother writing out the docket altogether, he goes on about “Dream Start” market. 4/1 about Kildare to get the first three scores, oh yes lets lose the plot altogether and start novelty betting. He then goes on again and again about the same i.e. 'Money buyers could take Armagh/Armagh double result at 1/3, while another option could be 7/4 about Armagh scoring more than 1.5 goals'' has he ever played Gaelic football, its not soccer, you do not have to score goals to win a football game. He has some shite too about Galway footballers being a division 1 team and Meath are in Div 2, Well hellooo Galway are in Div 2 NOW! then does he not know that the Kildare he is raving about are in Div 2! Is this guy working for the Sun, punting which I doubt or working for Ladbrokes becuase the whole thing seems to be a plug for them......next

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Well, what are you thinking! Limerick v Offaly Limerick seemed to have gone backwards in recently, missing some very influential players through injury and to the hurling team. With hurling on the way up in Limerick, football seems to be taking a back seat again. Nothing special about Offaly either both teams played in the same league division remember, Div 3, 1-12 to 2-10 when they met in the league, with Offaly coming out on top. Reports say that Offaly were very good against Monaghan! thats the same Monaghan who were poor in League 1 and were relegated and failed to win a game in Ulster! Going on league form and recent form, you would have to side with Offaly, but I would not be running out to back them, Leinster footbal is rubbish remember, I would put it in 3rd place behind Munster and Ulster. No Bet. |

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Excellent write-ups Suir - good to see. Know what u mean about write ups or reviews but i'll be honest, i don't ususally read any reviews other than maybe Rte.ie and thats because its about only website we can view at work! Just stuck Star links there as first time i came accross it & he seemed to write plenty and its all food for thought - although i havent considered anything he wrote.
Anyway, good luck with your bets. Like look of the 11/10 accum although wouldnt trust Antrim. Im more of football man myself (Donegal not much of a hurling stronghold) so great to see your write ups on Hurling. Need Down, Armagh and Dublin in football and Limerick & Tipp in Hurling to win and make it a healthy weekend! |

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Limerick kick off day with impressive 3-13 to 0-15 win over Offaly.
Down not exactly matching Paddy Powers expectations as 1/33 shots as they are only 2 points up at the break 1-05 to 0-06. They better pick things up or my weekends fucked from early on. Things seem to be tight enough in Casement as Antrim hols slender 1 point lead at HT 0-06 to 0-05. |

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
I've taken the 8/11 with Boylesports for Tyrone HT/FT at Longford, Should have beaten Donegal to Reach another Ulster Final only for some poor misses from easy frees among other things, Micky Hartes Tyrone simply dont lose two games in a row when it comes to the championship, ended up doubling them up with Brazil at 8/13, 2 games and no goals for Brazil, how long can a Brazil side be kept scoreless? Brazil fluffed lots against venezuela, surely the goals will flow tonight against Paraguay

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Last weekend was a total disaster for all, Armagh's shocking performance made the bookies alot of money as they were hot favourites to win, and were said in every review online, newspapers and by us here too that they had a straight forward task. They were a banker in every accum but a draw is all they could manage. Their shocking display against what is a poor Div 4 side sunk Suir Thing's sure thing, which I had gone to war with
. Cork after a perfect start were totally out played by Galway and I called that one incorrectly. All of our other homework was very good but we just choose the wrong combinations. Even gallimh's treble was very close, but no cigar when Meath won but did not cover the -2 handicap. Yes it was a bad day for us all, Snarff taking Tyrone half time full time was a blow out too as Tyrone trailed Longford by 5 points at the interval.Mind you it could have been worse and probably was for anyone who was stupid enough to follow that gob shite Kevin Egan who gives the tips in The Star, what was that I said he was on about again, oh yes Kildare to make a dream start and to get the first 3 scores at 4/1, only that Laois got the first 2 points of the game! and his shite about 'Money buyers could take Armagh/Armagh double result at 1/3, while another option could be 7/4 about Armagh scoring more than 1.5 goals' and again here Armagh were losing at half time and they did'nt know where the goal was! ![]() The site went tits up again before we could continue our discussion and put plan B into action to see if we could get some of our money back, but anyway I will not blame TDP for such a poor days punting, if anyone followed our advice and lost money then I am not one bit sorry for you , you have got to take it on the chin, its a war not a battle, I just absorb all that negative energy from a shite days punting and it makes me stronger! Dats only a loan I gave Boyles, There will be another round of games next weekend, and we can take something from last weeks games to analyise these matches, the fixtures and prices which I will post up tomorrow........NO STEP BACK, NO SURRENDER! |

Re: GAA, Weekend 9th/10th July 2011.
Thats the attitude big lad!! My acca went tits up as well. Very surprised at Armagh. Few teams in Ulster have gone a few steps backward. Antrim getting man sent off also meant Limerick went on scoring spree and beat my +16 handicap. Few others but sure thats the way it goes.
I had most cash on singles on Betfair. Thanks to Down, Limerick, Dublin and Tipp, managed to bank couple hundred. Heres to next weekend a an Ulster title for Donegal! Dun na nGall Abú! |
