Maidana v Amir Khan
Amir Khan 1.28
Marcos Rene Maidana 3.75 Odds Bet365 Anybody any ideas on this fight as that seems hell of a price for a puncher like Maidana, I like Khan and thinks he's a very good Technical boxer but every time he gets caught with a decent punch he does struggle, call it glass chin or whatever you want , if Maidana gets one through to Khans chops he will struggle. Khan made a wise decison in making Freddie Roach his trainer, as he has tightened up his defence and looks better fight by fight, if he can keep Maidana out with his jab and work him then I can see Khan tiring out the Argentinian but it would take a mad man to back Khan at those odds against a man who has one loss to his name which was a split decision and 27 Ko's to his name out of 29 fights. OK, Khan beat Kotelnik (the boxer who beat Maidana) but surely Maidana stands a punchers chance at those odds and will probably have the fans behind him. I've always thought Khan will come unstuck against a decent puncher, whether Maidana is good enough to test him i don't know, but I might have a wee bet on Maidana as he's no mug and does possess a very good right hand. |

Re: Maidana v Amir Khan
I'm with Yorkie on this one in terms of Khan to win by TKO.
Appreciate Maidana hasn't been stopped before inside the distance but by all accounts he was floored in the two opening rounds of his last fight before coming back to win in six. I think Amir is just not given enough credit, yes knocked by Prescott but that was clearly a young lad who hadn't developed. His top half was about twice the size of his base. I think Roach is a quality coach, training with Manny will help, and by all accounts they've completly reconstructed him in terms of his physic and fitness (interesting article in the telegraph). Basically, I think he's got power and speed which will be too much, so come round 8-9 the ref will have to stop the fight. Interestingly, Bettingzone are putting a lot of reliance on Roach saying Khan will win every round and suggesting he'll try to tactically box and win on points. |

Re: Maidana v Amir Khan
Right where are we ah yeah the fight scheduled to start about 3 right then im going with
Khan 1-3 @ 10.0 Unibet £10 Price has dived on Betfair since last night so biggest price going is there Also put a Saver on Khan in 4th Round £5 @ 21 Basically Khan is the better fighter and is training with world class boxers all the time now. Yes everyone will say about his K.O to Prescott few years ago and his so called glass chin but ive seen him get hit much harder than that and not be fazed by it. Khan is in a different class and if he wants it over and done with quickly he can just unleash his flurry of punches and get this over with. Should be a cracking fight with the other guy knocking out quite a lot of people thus far in his career but i think it was his last match i believe he got put on his arse as well to someone much smaller than Khan. So anyway Khan to win for me and hopefully quickly not sure if im going to stay up for it got work tomorrow |

Re: Maidana v Amir Khan
From what i head i went to bed about same time as you, it was a okay fight Khan got smashed a few times and showed he hasnt got a glass chin anymore and got busted open. He did lay out the other guy in round one but he got back up. Seems like Khan did deserve to win, probably not worth a watch though

Re: Maidana v Amir Khan
Not seen it myself, but apparently Oscar De La Hoya called it the fight of the year (or fight of the decade, depending on the report you read).
