Canadian Grand Prix

It's Canada and expect carnage! Only three races have never required the safety car. Safety Car deployment is currently 1.4 @ sporting bet.

The weather looks fine for Friday practice, so Mclaren should top the time sheets again (they always seem to)! Ham @ 3.0 But @ 4.5

Rain does pose a threat for Saturday qualifying and that could throw up all kinds of surprises, but given the high speed nature of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, it'll be the top championship contenders that make up the front rows of the grid I suspect. If however, rain interrupts one of the sessions, there could be mayhem! In that case, Renault or Mercedes could be a decent shout if the top guys get caught out.

Mclaren have major technical updates for this week, which include a front and rear wing, hopefully curing some of the downforce issues they've been suffering through fast corners. Canada has big straights, which will suit Mclaren's F-Duct.

The race on Sunday looks like it'll be a damp one! If Mclaren start from pole, I'd say they will win it. If they are hampered in qualifying, expect them to scythe through the field on the straights! If odds appear for a wet race, bet on it!

Alonso... another team and spitting the dummy again! Massa has just signed another contract with Ferrari so he'll be on a high, whereas Alonso his suffering a dip in form. When the match bets appear, I'd go with Massa to beat Alonso in the race.

Best leave Redbull alone... who know what'll happen there!

Re: Canadian Grand Prix

Think this is the weekend to be all over McLaren this weekend. Track is the opposite of what red bull like, only one high speed corner and thats a flat out kink before the hairpin but that shouldnt make much difference in speed. Also heavy rain is schedualed for Sunday. Thats been the forcast all week so i'd be mega surprised to not see a mclaren win especailly if we get rain

Re: Canadian Grand Prix

Ok the weather outlook has changed for today's race with only a small risk of showers toward the end of the race.

The Canadian Grand Prix has a history of incidents and high attrition. At current odds, Kubica (51) and Massa (67) stand out for e/w 1-3. Don't underestimate what a safety car can do at this race! It's certainly worth 0.5pts.

Re: Canadian Grand Prix

I'll grab a bit of the 1.9 on Liuzzi for a top 10. The Force India has supreme straight line speed and starting 5th thanks to Webber's grid drop he should be difficult to pass. Could get a bit dodgy if it rains but the forecast doesn't suggest it at the moment.

The concern at Canada is always the safety car potential, I'll be stunned if everyone gets through the first corner without an accident as I will be if no-one sticks it in the infamous wall of champions as the race goes on.

Cheeky fiver on Liuzzi to win at 300/1. Too long for someone starting 5th, he'll need a bit of carnage though that's not impossible.

Dopey fucking Massa. Schoolboy stuff. Liuzzi had nowhere to go.

Re: Canadian Grand Prix

It was a cracking race but we didn't get the carnage promised. Those Redbulls are fragile and in my opinion should be eliminated from bets now. Those Adrian Newey designs are always troublesome.

Valencia should be a Redbull track, but momentum is firmly with Mclaren now. The massive car improvement package coming for Silverstone could signal a shift toward Mclaren dominance for the rest of the season.

Re: Canadian Grand Prix

Good comeback by Liuzzi to get 9th. Not sure I agree with your Newey comment though Gav. Also Christian Horner seemed to suggest that Valencia wasn't a great track for Red Bull. Though one thing to note is that I'm looking forward to Hockenheim and the Hungaroring as the Bridgestone chap said the tyres may struggle there too.
