GAA 2-3 July

Plenty matches this weekend as the football qualifiers get underway.

Meath v Waterford
Waterford +12 @ 10/11 with PaddyPower has to be taken. boyles and bet365 have the hcap at 9 points. I cant see the 12 point handicap lasting til the weekend so snap it up now!

Re: GAA 2-3 July

i'm looking at these bloody handicaps now as the 7 guaranteed winners this weekend, including antrim at 2/5 as the longest shots pays out at just over 1/1 !!!
however, after dublin and galway's differing 1/6 performances last weekend, who's to know ?
i might flip a coin three times for an 8/1 h'cap treble !!

thanks for the heads-up though, haven't done any homework this week at all !

Gaiilimh : PP are doing alternative handicaps for all the games. So you can decide what level of risk you want to accept with your hcap bet. Boyles had Waterford +9 @ EVS which I backed, was raging to see the same bet at 15/8 with Paddy!

Also I would be wary of backing Antrim at 2/5!
I laid them at 1.13 for the Ulster hurling final last week. They only won with 2 injury time points!

I feel at these prices Laois are the value bet.

Re: GAA 2-3 July

My bets and a few words about each...

Waterford +12 (now +11 @ EVS, cut as predicted)

Waterford are under-rated by the bookies here IMO. Meath captain Stephen Bray is missing through injury. Waterford conceded only 1 goal in the league so Meath will find it hard to clock up a big score. I wouldnt read too much into Waterford's defeat by Cork, as Cork have since shown that they are serious contenders for the All Ireland when beating Kerry

Carlow -9 @ 6/5
Donegal dropped 2 players from their panel this week for disciplinary reasons. They have already lost to one div 4 team , Antrim, in the championship and morale in the camp is surely low. I feel that this game will be closer than the bookies predict.

Laois (hurling) @ 11/5

Laois with home advantage in this hurling qualifier. Antrim were 1/8 tb Down last week in the Ulster final but only won thanks to 2 injury time points. Laois got well beaten by Galway last time out, but played the majority of the game with only 13 men. Both teams are very unpredictable and Antrim should only be slight faves IMO. 11/5 = big value

Will also chance a small bet on No goals in Meath - Waterford at 4/1
Waterford conceded 1 goal in 8 league games. Meath scored 2 in 7.
Meath had goalless game with Dublin in last round. Asmittedly there were 4 goals in Waterford v Cork, (very out of character for Waterford) . all things considered I feel 4/1 is worth a bet

Re: GAA 2-3 July

WARNING : I spoke to someone that would know last nite and he said that Waterford were in for a hammering, they were not taking this game seriously and had no proper preparations done, Gary Hurney is a massive loss also. If Meath are anyway decent I can not see us competing with them. I will leave it as I have had a good enough run with Waterford all year. But the best of luck to ye lads, I would like to be proved wrong but I think there may be better bets than this at the weekend. (I expect Donegal in the football and Cork in the hurling to win by big scores)

Re: GAA 2-3 July

Cheers for the warning Suir Thing, a bit late for me though! Hopefully Waterford can keep the score down as much as possible. I'll be clinging to memories of Meath's 4-12 to 4-03 defeat to Limerick in last years qualifiers in hope!

And my Carlow bet should say Carlow +9!

Carlow -9 would be about 200/1!
