Saturday June 13th Munster SFC semi final replay Cork v. Kerry Have Cork left it behind them? Can Kerry come up with a plan B? These are just two of the questions that have been brought up since last weekend’s draw. The Kingdom had to dig deep as Brian Sheehan held his nerve to coolly slot over the equalizing point and the St Mary’s clubman will surely start on Saturday. Kerry manager Jack O’Connor must plan without Tommy Walsh, while Darren O’Sullivan could also be out with a broken nose. The strength of the Kerry bench was evident in the drawn match and Darragh O’Se and David Moran will also be pushing for starting places. When Cork got a run on Kerry, they completely destroyed them and they will be hoping to reproduce that form. It will be interesting to see if Kerry can come up with different tactics and although given more time, they certainly would, six days may not be enough to perfect it. Cork know they have the beating of this side and should finish the job at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Verdict: Cork SMK, I sat on the fence last week with this one, now Im going for kerry to finish with the job in cork Leinster SFC quarterfinal Kildare v. Wexford The Lilywhites are many peoples’ dark horses for the Leinster title this year. Against Offaly they showed that they are not too far away from breaking Dublin’s dominance in the province. Defender Mike Conway is definitely out for this match, but Kevin O’Neill and Ken Donnelly both return after long spells out. Wexford’s problems keep mounting following a dismal league campaign they may now be without Mattie Forde, who is struggling all year through injury. Confidence must be low in the camp, although they have had decent performances in recent challenge matches. The fact that Kildare have a championship game under their belt already will stand to them and even though Offaly provided little resistance, the tempo of the game will be a bonus going into this quarterfinal. Verdict: Kildare SMK , agree hard to see wex winning this one Sunday, June 14th Leinster SFC quarterfinals Westmeath v. Wicklow The Midlanders are red hot favourites to advance to a Leinster semi final and a meeting with Dublin, but all is not rosy in the Lake County, as a number of injury concerns and lack of match fitness surrounds the camp. Dessie Dolan and Michael Ennis are in a race against time to prove their fitness, while David O’Shaughnessy is definitely out. Martin Flanagan and Donal O’Donoghue have only returned to full fitness, while Damien Healy only recently returned from travelling abroad. All this along with a poor league campaign suggests that Westmeath could struggle here. Wicklow on the otherhand have a championship game under their belt already and Mick O’Dwyer will have the players believing in themselves. If Westmeath can regain the form of last year, they will be genuine contenders to reach the Leinster final, but doing that is another thing. They may scrap over this one, but it will be a lot closer than many people think. Verdict: Westmeath SMK yeah it will be close but im going for wicklow, briliant manager, coupled with average players who punch above their weight, will see them beat a side who blow hot and cold on match days, Louth v. Laois The Wee County will need a marked improvement from their performance against Carlow if they are to trouble Laois at the weekend. They struggled to overcome the division four side and they will be buoyed by the return of Peter McGinnity and Aaron Hoey, while Colm Judge is also back to full fitness. Louth have been threatening to make a name for themselves in the provincial campaign for the past few seasons, and realistically this could be the last chance for their manager and some of the players to make an impact. Laois’ preparations for the match have been overshadowed by Donie Brennan’s exclusion from the squad. Defender Padraig McMahon is out with a broken arm, but experienced players Noel Garvan, Joe Higgins, Tom Kelly and Brendan Quigley are all available. The O’Moore County should have enough firepower to see them through to a meeting with Kildare. Verdict: Laois SMK again i am opting for the other team, louth is a team that dont get enuff credit, they always knock on the door, maybe this year they can produce, Also a draw would not be out of the question Ulster SFC quarterfinal Donegal v. Antrim This is the favourable side of the draw and both these sides will be hopeful that they can reach an Ulster final. Donegal are favourites to go through, but Antrim backboned by the St Gall’s contingent should push them all the way. Conor Murray is back to full fitness and he will be a welcome addition to a squad that is missing CJ McGourty after his very public fall out with manager Liam Bradley. Donegal have injury concerns over Neil McGee, Neil Gallagher, Barry Dunnion and Frank McGlynn, but all four are expected to be passed fit in time for Sunday. The Tir Chonaill men have a strong squad, which could play a huge part in their progression to the last four and a meeting with Cavan. Verdict: Donegal SMK, donegal enough said. Ulster SHC semi final Down v. Derry Derry had to dig deep to see off the challenge of London in the quarterfinal and manager Brian McGilligan stressed after the match that a marked improvement would have to be made or else Down would win this semi final easily. Meetings between these sides have produced high scoring affairs with Down just shading proceedings of late. Last weekend, the Mourne men earned a place in the Christy Ring Cup final following a resounding victory over Mayo and they will be full of confidence going into this match. As McGilligan stressed, Derry need to improve. They are a relative young side and this is all a learning curve for them, but Down’s experience could prove to be too much for them. Verdict: Down SMK no comment Munster SHC semi final Limerick v. Waterford Both camps have their injury concerns ahead of this crucial tie. Waterford have doubts over John Mullane who hasn't trained for almost a fortnight since picking up a hamstring problem, and along with Richie Foley (hamstring), Gary Hurney (knee) and Shane Walsh (shoulder), are doubtful starters for Davy Fitzgerald's side. Both Waterford and Limerick have serious injury worries ahead of Sunday's Munster SHC semi-final at Semple Stadium. Limerick will be monitoring the progress of Seamus Hickey who has only been doing very light training because of a shoulder injury, while centre-forward Mike O'Brien is expected to miss the game because of two broken bones in his hand. Full-forward David Breen and wing-back Gavin O'Brien are also carrying injuries, though Treaty manager Justin McCarthy will be boosted by the news the dual stars Stephen Lucey and Mark O'Riordan will be available for selection. CAPS NOW OFF!! Christy Ring Cup semi-final replay Kerry v. Carlow Kerry always seemed to be playing catch up in the drawn game and Carlow may well rue not finishing the job the first day. Once again the Kingdom relied heavily on Shane Brick and John Mike Dooley for the majority of their scores and if Carlow can curtail these two on front of goal they will go a long way to reaching another final. However, that is something that many defence have failed to do this year. Kerry’s home form is excellent and Carlow’s grip on their title is loosening by the day. If the Kerry forwards can hit form once again, then they may well reach their first Christy Ring cup final. Louth This David vs Goliath clash sees the Wee County travel to Navan on Saturday. Following Meath’s demolition of Sligo last weekend, it is impossible to see anything other than a win for the Royals. Another emphatic win will just underline the question as to why they are even in the third tier championship. Meath to win with something to spare. Verdict: Meath London v. Roscommon If any team is to test Meath in this competition then it has to be London. The exiles form has been well documented and when they met Roscommon in the league, London came out on top with something to spare. A similar result is expected this weekend as the Rossies look set to make the trip home with their season in tatters. Verdict: London Nicky Rackard 2B Monaghan v Fingal The first of the losers group sees Monaghan and Fingal do battle. The sides will know each other quite well from the league. Fingal are tipped to advance to the next round, but expect a close match between these two sides. Verdict: Fingal Sligo v. Armagh Both sides will have hoped to avoid each other at this stage. Sligo suffered a very heavy defeat to Meath, even though there was little between the sides at half time. Armagh are favourites to win this one and get their campaign back on track. Verdict: Armagh Lory Meagher Cup 2A Longford v. Donegal This competition is probably the most evenly contested as a number of sides are capable of lifting the inaugural title. Both Longford and Donegal will feel that they are two of those sides. On Saturday, one will be in a stronger position to do so and that looks most likely to be Donegal. Verdict: Donegal Leitrim v. South Down Leitrim caused a minor surprise by defeating Fermanagh last weekend and that result will have given them a huge boost going into this game. South Down are turning into a formidable side at this level and are favourites to lift title. Verdict: South Down Lory Meagher 2B Tyrone v. Warwickshire Tyrone looked impressive in their last outing and they will be hotly tipped to see off the challenge of the exiles on Saturday afternoon. Warwickshire are doing well to promote the game, but the lack the necessary power to make an impact here. Verdict: Tyrone Cavan v. Fermanagh Fermanagh came out on top in the Ulster SHC clash between the sides a few weeks back and it’s hard to see that result reversed here. The Erne County will be keen to get their campaign back on track. Verdict: Fermanagh

SMK, I am going to the Limerick v Waterford game and we will crush them knackers from Stab City.......ah seriously, I am confident that we can beat them, if we have a good fair ref that does not put up with their old shite and then we will out hurl them...not sure how much of the injury talk is accurate, the whole set up is very much low profile this tear and Fitzy is doin very little talk, I may post some news after talking to a few people in the know 2mro nite, I would have liked to do Limerick on the + handicap on a single bet, but the odds on this a fairly shite too, I still believe we should beat them, I will put them in my accum to win this weekend thats all, but that could be my heart and just me getting ready for the terrace on Sunday....Knackers,knackers........knackers,knacke rs,knackers!

I think that Cork have missed their chance, Tommy Walsh will play and Darragh O'Se will start, they have their regular half back returning from injury too according to the Examiner today, Kerry cannot play that shite again, they only do that once a year, I will go for Kerry here.

My big bet for the GAA weekend will be Donegal, Donegal are a good footballing side, but always with strife in the camp, manager problems etc, this year things are well organised I have been told, they have good forwards and they are a physical side, they will be too physical for a team that played in Div 4 this year, Antrim will be missing 2 of their best forwards, 2 brothers that had a falling out with the management apparently, DONEGAL +5 6/5 StanJames

yeah agree with donegal, antrim have good club sides, but come to intercounty level, they are not even at the races,
its like carlow during the 90s one of the best club sides in ireland, but that came to fuck all on the county scene,

Ive decided to stay away from waterford limerick, I know waterford should beat them, but its just one ot those matches that i will avoid, it can swing either way,

SMK, The Waterford game looks like a toss up up, I still believe we can beat them and we should beat them. The neutrals, commentators and experts are mostly with Waterford, we have the experience which comes in to the Championship, we have shown a bit more promise than Limerick of late and we should be fitter as Fitzy has been training hard Clare style, McCarthy has commented that Limerick need another year or 2, so its the team on the way down against the team on the way up??
I will do the same as yourself, not have a bet, I will be going to the game and I want to enjoy it,
I agree that Kildare against Wexford should be a penalty kick for Kildare.

Hi Sue! Was at the Waterford game and watched the Kerry game on TV + Watched the highlights of the other games. There is a few things to take out of these games for future bets.
Donegal thought all they had to do was turn up and did not get going until the latter part of the second half, Donegal are much better than this result and it was a fluke.
Louth were better than Laois, Laois are pure rubbish and the goal they scored that swung it for them was scored by Padraic Clancy from the half way line under 14 style!
Wicklow should have won the game in normal time, they just wasted so much chances, once they were down to 14 men they were never going to win in extra time, Oppose Westmeath next day out, they are shite and have no chance against the Dubs.
Cork are better than we think and will go a long way, Kerry are not the Kerry of old at all, but I wouldnt write them off completely but Cork will go further than them this year.
Waterford v Limerick, it was the worse shite I ever watched, especially the second half, 2 points which were 2 frees is all we could score in the second half is disgraceful, Still I will be at the replay and it is a toss of a coin who will win that, and John and Eoin.....showboat on, we love it...UP THE DEISE!

ye reckon cork wll take some beating this year,
but same thing has been happenig since backdoor introduced, cork go and beat kerry, then later in the knockouts kerry pisses over cork, which is why i didnt go near the first game, I thought that was kerrys kick up the ass for the year
