Re: Gaelic Football/Hurling 30/31st May
I'm on London tb Derry in the hurling @ 2/1 yesterday with PP - best price now 15/8 Boyles...
More lower grade hurling value here in the Ulster championship. London steamrolled their way through div 3b of the league, winning all 7 games and hammered Fermanagh in the Ulster preliminary round. Derry have been very hot and cold, getting well beaten by Kerry in the Christy Ring cup last week. It's very hard for odds compilers to price these games up but I would have it more of a 50-50 game. |

Hurling 30th May 7pm
Wexford V Offaly As explained before I know nothing about GAA,but listen to a lot of "talk radio" while working in my taxi.Anyhows the usual experts on the sports show yesterday said that Offaly will win this as Wexford have a ragtag team put together. One of the experts was a native Wexford man,and he said," he was very worried about Wexfords performance" in tonights match. So thats why Im sticking a few quid on Offaly to win. evens @ Paddy Power Regards,Micky |

Re: Gaelic Football/Hurling 30/31st May
Don't worry about it Micky, no one is goin to shoot the messenger
I notice with the GAA, if you follow it yourself and go to a few games you will have a better idea than some of the experts, also whoever puts the previews together on the GAA section of rte.ie web site, is another expert talking out his ass. |

Re: Gaelic Football/Hurling 30/31st May
Yeah agree totally witg suir thing, u have to go to the matches or see them, or read the analysis, no point listening to the gobshites experts, worse than fuckin mark lawrenson and his arseways commentry on soccer.
at this stage I used to go for a lot of draws between teams, used to come in a lot for me, 1st and 2nd 3rd round games only, after that it weeds the shitter teams out, I have never checked out if there is in-play betting, mihgt be interesting coming to full time, referees USED to play for a draw and give a team a chance at kicking a point maybe to level and bring to a replay, Can anyone comment on this off topic was it 3 or 4 replays between meath and dublin?? and (why cant dublin rugby supporters be like their gaa counterparts) who are probalbly the best craic gaa supporters in Ireland, even if they sound like newcastle sometimes!!! |

Re: Gaelic Football/Hurling 30/31st May
Saturday, May 30th
Leinster SHC quarterfinal Offaly v. Wexford These sides meet for the third time this year with the outcome tied at one each. However, the league fixtures between the sides will count for very little when they meet on Saturday evening. Wexford’s veteran goalkeeper Damien Fitzhenry is expected to return to the number one spot after he was rested for the latter stages of the league, but defender Stephen Nolan is definitely out through injury. Offaly came out on top in the Division Two final by a narrow margin and this weekend’s clash looks set to be just as tight. Both teams have major scoring threats in their ranks and it may well go down to who has the tighter defence. Offaly’s looks the most settled as Wexford have chopped and changed all year. Joe Dooley has made significant steps since taking over as manager and this could be another one in the right direction as the Midlanders get the nod to advance to the semi finals. Verdict: Offaly Ulster SHC quarterfinal Derry v. London The exiles face their biggest test of the year so far when the travel to Casement Park and face Derry. Centre back Fergus McMahon is in a race against time to prove his fitness and his inclusion would be a big boost to London. Martin Finn and Kevin McMullan have been terrorizing defences all year and this pair will take watching. Derry’s Sam Dodds should start after he missed out on the Christy Ring Cup defeat to Kerry last weekend. London have come on leaps and bounds this year, but it remains to be seen by just how far as they were untested in the league. Still though, confidence will be high and although Derry may be favourites, the exiles may well pull off a surprise win. Verdict: London Down v. Armagh Down will use this match as a warm-up for the Christy Ring Cup semi final and this is one that they should win with something to spare. The return of Gareth ‘Magic’ Johnson has been a huge boost to the Mourne men and added to the scoring threat of Paul Braniff, Down are a lethal outfit up front. Big things are expected from them this year, which means success in either the second tier championship, the Ulster campaign or both. Armagh have comfortably reached the last eight showing they are a class above their contemporaries, but the Orchard County still has some work to do to catch up with the likes of Down. Verdict: Down Sunday, May 31st Ulster SFC quarterfinal Tyrone v. Armagh This clash has been eagerly awaited since the draw was first made. The All-Ireland champions take on their fierce rivals and how the Orchard County would love to put a dent in their defence of the title. The news in the Tyrone camp is good as both Bryan Dooher and Stephen O’Neill have been passed fit to play, although Brian McGuigan is struggling with a hamstring strain. One cannot underestimate the significance of this as both players on their day are among the finest footballers in the country. In contrast, Armagh preparations for the quarterfinal have been hampered by a virus which affected up to 13 players in the squad and although all have been passed fit to play, it remains to be seen what effect it has on them. The loss of such experienced players Francie Bellew, Paul McGrane and Oisin McConville is another reason why the scales might tip in favour of Tyrone. Peter McDonnell is expected to hand a number of players their championship debut, while there is unlikely to be too many new faces in the Tyrone camp. Expect a hot blooded encounter as is always the case, but Tyrone’s experience should see them through. Verdict: Tyrone Smk Verdict, TRyone too strong for armagh Leinster SHC quarterfinal Laois v. Galway The Tribesmen become the first county not from the province to compete in the Leinster championship when they take on Laois on Sunday afternoon. Many feel that Galway are actually the team to break Kilkenny’s dominance in the province and they will be strong favourites to advance to the semi final. Playing at a higher level in the league will be a huge plus for the Connacht side. For Laois, they have another year at least to look forward too in the second division. The O’Moore county seem to have done little to close the gap on the top tier teams which include Sunday’s opponents. This will be a momentous occasion for all concerned, but particularly for Galway as they bid to end their 21 year reign without an All-Ireland title. Home advantage may assist Laois early, but expect the Galway forwards to take control and run out easy winners. Verdict: Galway Smk verdict, Yeah Galway too strong, might not be easy as they think, but over the course of the match I expect galway to take control in the later stages, Connacht SFC quarterfinal Leitrim v. Roscommon Leitrim manager Mickey Moran was forced to juggle his squad following the withdrawal of six established stars through injury and other reasons, which is not the perfect preparation for the championship. Arguably the biggest lost is influential forward Emlyn Mulligan, who was the county’s main scoring threat. Leitrim pushed Galway all the way in last year’s campaign and they will be quietly confident of defeating the Rossies. All is not perfect for Roscommon either as midfielder Seamus O’Neill is out for the year, while defender David Casey and forward Cathal Cregg will also miss Sunday’s match. This is a huge blow to Fergal O’Donnell’s charges, but they should have the strength in depth to defeat Leitrim this weekend. Verdict: Roscommon Smk Verdict, I would go for leitrim for this, they are a sneaky team flying under the radar all the time, they have pushed the big 8 teams close most of the time in the last few years, so based on past performances and also because roscommoon are still in turmoil, I would go for this as a value bet. Munster SHC Tipperary v. Cork The Cork hurlers’ strike earlier in the year is all but forgotten at this stage, but talk of situation is sure to arise over the coming days ahead of the eagerly anticipated match. The Rebels have got their heads down and judging by their performances and results in recent matches; they seem to be regaining their old form. Cork manager Denis Walsh knows that his side need to produce a massive performance to see off Tipperary, but he will also know that his charges are capable of such a result. Tipp are definitely without Hugh Moloney for the match as his suspension obtained from the league final will not be completed on time. Shane Maher is another that will miss out due to a hamstring injury, but Conor O’Mahony should play some part in the match, although it remains to be seen if they are fit enough. no verdict from the Experts on this. Smk verdict; Cork simple really, they have to show that their stance on the last manager was justified, so possibly a whitewash here, its like what happened with the spuds except Cork would be like the liverpool of soccer, they had trouble with their manager, he wouldnt leave, players wouldnt play, now manager is gone, this is championship time, and players better play to justify all their retard antics, or else be made a laughing stock of, personally speaking I would like to see them lose, betting wise they will win. |
