Re: BDO World Darts Championship 2008
Aye and the BDO is usually show on BBC rather than Sky, the PDC is regarded as the main one arguably but when someone like Barnevald can swap over and win the PDC at the first attempt like he did last yr when he knocked Taylor off the throne, its not to be scoffed at.
Just noticed no Andy Fordham either, is he still ill?

Re: BDO World Darts Championship 2008
I think I'm right in saying the winner of this is then contracted to the BDO for a year, and so it is well worth avoiding a bet on Gary Anderson at those odds given that he looks likely to join the PDC in the near future. Add in his honking BDO record(especially given his talent) and that the first couple of rounds always throw up some big shocks, and he looks one hell of a lay here.

Re: BDO World Darts Championship 2008
In theory I think anyone who reaches the SF is contracted for 2 more years, but in reality this doesn't happen. Klaasen left less than 2 years after winning and King just after losing in the semis.
Anyone laying Anderson is a much braver man than me - in my opinion he's the best player in the world right now, and that includes Taylor, Barney, Wade and anyone else.

Re: BDO World Darts Championship 2008
I'd agree, but 3s still looks a trifle short. 6 appearances at the Lakeside producing 4 first round defeats, 1 second round exit and a semi final is a poor return for his ability(altho granted he's at the top of his game at the mo.) I'd just think in a short best of 5 format early on it can be a bit of a lottery, regardless of ability.

Yeah, not a great record, but looked class in the GSOD, and it took Taylor at his best for a long time to stop him.

Re: BDO World Darts Championship 2008
I've had an added interest in Anderson for the last few years cause I found out he stays about 15 minutes down the road and he's been shocking. Granted form has changed drastically but them odds are still too short for my liking. He may well win it but I'd rather see him get a couple of rounds under his belt.
Ted Hankey at biggish odds but I'd need to look at form. Adams always talks a good game but he seems too cocky for my liking.

Re: BDO World Darts Championship 2008
Martin Adams really isn't very likeable is he?
"What they do at the PDC tournament is sports entertainment but what we do at the Lakeside is sport," insisted the England captain.

Re: BDO World Darts Championship 2008
Ok, I've had a look through the top half of the draw (although there is some debate around as to whether the draw is actually as I set out above), and although I don't know a great deal about all the players I have got a couple of bets.
Glen Moody to beat Niels de Ruiter 3pts @ 13/10 (PartyBets, Expekt)
De Ruiter has been in truely terrible form, hitting numerous averages in the 70s (some only just that high too), and just can't seem to win right now. I know very little of Moody, although apparently he hits high 80s averages in Super League, and is a very slow player. Anyone who qualifies for this though should be able to beat someone playing as badly as de Ruiter is right now though.
Martin Adams to beat Phil Nixon 10pts @ 4/11 (Totesport)
Let's just rewind 12 months. Adams v Nixon BDO final. Adams crushing Nixon 6-0, struggles to close out the match, Nixon fights back but then Adams takes the win. The only thing that stopped that being a 7-0 Adams win was the fact that it was the final, and he couldn't quite close the match out. Nixon's done nothing of note that I can see since, while Adams form has been just as good as ever.

Re: BDO World Darts Championship 2008
Price tumbling fast on Moody, as short as 5/6 now, and top price is 6/5 with centrebet, and I don't expect that to last.
