Re: 7 card stud

Um erm you'll need to be a little more specific !
In brief you will be dealt two cards face down and one card face up to start with and a round of betting commences.
Then another card face up.....round of betting.
Another card face up......round of betting.
Another card face up....round of betting.
Then last card face down.....round of betting.
You try and make the best 5 card poker hand possible from the seven card available to you.
The person with the highest hand on display from the up cards starts the round of betting each time.
Erm you need more detail or ?

Re: 7 card stud

this is fun. The cards unturned are the key i presume. It looks nice as you have what folks can see and what folks cant see and it leads to some great bluffing. Im playing like an arse though and i'm having problems working out all the possibilities.

A pleasant change though.

Re: 7 card stud

Bah it all went tits up. It seems to me a pocket pair (10, 10) isn't much cop. I couldnt see what cards i was dealt but i got beat. It was fun but i would have to read up the advice Alien has given or any other advice folks can offer me. Maybe CD will pop by and advise us a bit.

Re: 7 card stud

I think its fundementaly about the 3 hands you can make with the 3 cards you hold. Obviously the more disguised the connection between your back 2 and the ones your playing the better.

Re: 7 card stud

I think the average winning hand full-ring in 7-stud is trip 9's I believe (think I learned that from a John Patrick show on the Poker Channel, funny guy ). The best bit of advice I was given was to ALWAYS start with trips, a pair, three to a straight or three to a flush with your first 3 cards. It made the game that much easier for me after this

Re: 7 card stud

Aye we play 7 stud sometimes in the dealers choice cash game in the casino. Pot limit high hand only. Its good fun, a real "old school" poker game. Everyone gets two downcards and 1 up card komp. The player with the lowest visible up card is then forced to bet an amount to start the action going. Instead of a flop/turn/river after betting rounds everyone who stays in gets another face up card after each round of betting, until they have 4 in total face up. A final card is then dealt face down. Each round of betting starts with the player who has the best visible set of upcards.
