Re: Omaha

21:30 Omaha Paradise Freeroll. Dont know if its all the time. I went in accidently. sore on the head.

Anyone play any other poker games? Feel free to tell me about it and also the other games. Ive found a limit game. Quite fun. i was for getting me and mick's money for wed there. Up to $9.75 there. Im poker daft at the mo. still it's fun. I want to specialise in a poker alternative to Hold-em. I might play cash tables limit for the mo and just nl in tournaments

Re: Omaha

Omaha is a great game, and very subtly different from hold-em.

Obviously the fact you must use EXACTLY 2 cards from your 4 is a key. The other thing is that you will get shown the nuts far more often than in Hold'em. It is very rare for less than a straight or trips to win a pot.
For starting hands you need to think in terms of 6 starting hands (the 6 two-card combinations that can be made from 4 hole cards). You need at least 4 strong hands to make it worth playing up front. With position though, many hands can be played in an unraised pot. Don't play low flushes - you'll almost always be beaten - often by someone 'freerolling' with a better hand AND a better draw

Re: Omaha

That's just a qualifier komp, the top 5 finishers get a place in the $500 freeroll, there's no actual money to be won there.

Re: Omaha

Oh and cheers stereoman and Raisin too. I was reading up as i went. Again invaluable information. From what i can make out its as the Doc says in that you need a few options going into the turn. Then i just play it normal and i've done ok so far. It's a good game. anyone got any links to the history of Omaha so as i can have a wee read up as i go? thanks

Ive slipped to 6th (1 spot off the t...bah i blew it all. 6th to out in a terrible hand. i was thinking AA was stronger as in the other game. finish 18th. I cant complain as that was a great rush . Re: Omaha

lol komp sweet.

I was playing omaha last night as well! But with six downcards instead of 4 (the scottish variant they love so much in casinos here). In a cash game in my local casino, its great fun.

Re: Omaha

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omaha_hold_'em

The wikipedia page on omaha

and heres an article with some mention of the popularity of 6O in the UK (and scotland in particular)

http://www.pokerplayernewspaper.com/...38&sort=author

IF they had that game online I dont think I would ever leave the house. Still to this day I cannot fathom why NO online site has it. Its the most fun you can possibly have playing cards
