Re: Omaha
Omaha is a great game, and very subtly different from hold-em.
Obviously the fact you must use EXACTLY 2 cards from your 4 is a key. The other thing is that you will get shown the nuts far more often than in Hold'em. It is very rare for less than a straight or trips to win a pot. For starting hands you need to think in terms of 6 starting hands (the 6 two-card combinations that can be made from 4 hole cards). You need at least 4 strong hands to make it worth playing up front. With position though, many hands can be played in an unraised pot. Don't play low flushes - you'll almost always be beaten - often by someone 'freerolling' with a better hand AND a better draw |

Re: Omaha
Oh and cheers stereoman and Raisin too. I was reading up as i went. Again invaluable information. From what i can make out its as the Doc says in that you need a few options going into the turn. Then i just play it normal and i've done ok so far. It's a good game. anyone got any links to the history of Omaha so as i can have a wee read up as i go? thanks

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omaha_hold_'em
The wikipedia page on omaha and heres an article with some mention of the popularity of 6O in the UK (and scotland in particular) http://www.pokerplayernewspaper.com/...38&sort=author IF they had that game online I dont think I would ever leave the house. Still to this day I cannot fathom why NO online site has it. Its the most fun you can possibly have playing cards ![]() |
