Atonement

Watched it last night and liked it a lot. Had I not been so ignorant and realised before I watched it that the book was written by Ian McEwan, then I would have known I was going to enjoy it.

Re: Atonement

I was really looking forward to this but it bored the pants off me. Slow doesn’t even begin to describe the leisurely pace here. Keira Knightly’s stick insect figure didn’t do much for me either .

Apparently the book’s ending has been changed quite a bit. My mother who read the book thought the ending was much better. In the interest of full disclosure both my mom and dad loved the film. Maybe a certain generational thing ? Seeing the film put me of reading the book.

One thing I will say is that it is beautifully shot especially the scenes of the British retreating through fields of poppies to Dunkirk but not a patch on the English Patient.

Re: Atonement

I'd be interested to know what the ending was in the book mate if you could happen to let us know.

I thought the film ending was really good. Although, in the spirit of atonement that the film suggests, I'm not quite sure that imagining a quick shag on the beach is much consolation to the poor cunts.
